  1. 100 Girls  (vol 1)
Publisher: Simon Pulse (originally published by Darkhorse)
    Written by Adam Gollardo
    Illustrated by Todd Demong

First Impression: I’m not going to lie. I thought it was a "teen-esque runaway" story. But no, it’s so much more than that. I don’t really want to spoil anyone who hasn’t read it yet so I’m going to just graze a short summary for you.

The story encircles the events of a mysterious teenager prodigy named Sylvia Mark. At first it begins introducing other reasons why she might be different (skipping two grades and all) but it’s not until a mysterious group of officials who hunt her (and girls who look like her) down when she begins to fathom other explanation of her alienation with her peers. Running away she seeks the answers.

Now that’s out of the way, yes it sounds cliche’ but really it isn’t! I took out all the zingers that make this book a one of a kind (more so because they are spoilers). Let’s really discuss what makes this special now shall we?

This book is not for the light hearted. While it may not be preacher… it’s still has its share of gore. Still a very quick witted tale that veers out of the formula of what a teenager-super hero comic has become (generally speaking). The lettering itself is fantastic! I’ve never seen clever lettering like that in my life! Maybe I’m being naive but for some reason I get the feeling that Gollardo really put his heart into every aspect of the story. And I for one couldn’t be happier with the shocking ending of what Sylvia’s latest power is.

Final Comment: Worth Looking at in the Comic Shop. I would purchase the rest if it weren’t so expensive =/ They need to all be 4.99
