  1. Great ending to a great series.

  2. I can’t wait for this.  I recently re-read all 12 of the previous trades in order to get caught back up so that I’ll have some clue as to what is going on.  I really think Josh needs to re-read this series in trade form.  I think he’d enjoy it more than he did in issue form.

  3. Masterpiece.

Seriously, I"m not just saying that. This is one of the greatest comics of the last ten years. Hands down. Brian Azzarello is the dialog master.

  4. I know Josh likes to call Bendis the David Mamet of comics, but I see him more as Tarantino and Azzarello is Mamet.  My reason for this is Bendis’ dialogue is mainly very hip sounding and banters back and forth, sometimes about nothing.  That’s Tarantino.  With Mamet, every word means something and there’s often subtext or double meaning to his dialogue.  Same with Azzarello.  As well, Azzarello likes to play with what’s being said and what’s in the panel.  His writing style is one of the most inventive and satisfying in the industry.  People who don’t get him are just lazy and don’t want to take the time with what’s there.  In the recent Starman Omnibus Vol. 1 podcast they did, Sonia mentioned she likes lots of words because it allows her to take her time.  Azzarello’s dialogue can often be sparse, however the play on word and images makes you take your time while reading this.  Every word means something and often there’s more to it than just what’s on the surface.  I can’t wait to read this final volume.  I almost wish I wasn’t going to NY for the weekend tomorrow for my stag so that I can spend the weekend reading it, as I want to savor it, and I don’t like reading on planes… almost.

  5. Fucking finally… great book… great team… going down as a masterpiece for ALL time.  Now Azzarello can feel like the greats before him… his ONE BIG BOOK is done… now everyone can say "yah I like what your doing now but its just not as good as 100 bullets…"
