‘Young Justice’ – S01E19 – “Misplaced”

Young Justice returns today, eschewing its former evening showtimes for Saturday morning and the new DC Nation block of shows. Oh well. It’s a good thing I have a DVR.

Here’s how DC Entertainment describes the episode:

“When every adult on the planet disappears, only the team, Zatanna, and Billy Batson are left to defeat the five most powerful sorcerers on Earth.”

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

  1. Best portrayal of captain marvel I have seen, love the feel feeling of a good kid with near superman levels of power. C
heck out black adam vs shazam if you like this.

  2. It is a good thing to have a DVR. I fast forwarded through most of it. Nice art. Boring story.

  3. I really liked the episode! The Zatara/Zatanna story was touching, and I loved how writer Greg Weisman was able to utilize Billy Batson’s unique transformative power. Welcome back, Young Justice!

  4. Everything about this show is exceptional except for the dialog. I don’t mean the voice actors (they’re all great) but the written dialog is really hard to listen to.

But the art, story choices, designs, animation, it’s all really great.

  5. Great episode; a very clever use of Captain Marvel’s/Shazam’s difference from other heroes.

  6. This was my first episode of Young Justice. I have to go back and watch the rest of this series now.

  7. I really enjoyed this episode. I love the way this show “remembers” what is going on with the characters, from injuries, to captured trinkets. I’m sure it’s episodic enough for kids, but the long-term story arc is compelling even for adults.

  8. Wow. This episode is really good. I can’t believe they actually lost Zatara, never liked him much anyways.
Was glad that Zatanna officially joined the team. Also, I think I saw Rocket, can’t wait for more teen superheroes to arrive. Whoppie.

  9. I just need to say, I can’t wait for next week’s DC nation with New Teen Titans! Yay

  10. This episode works on so many levels. Great story for this episode and great development in context of the series. A strong showcase for Captain Marvel.(tons of shazaming in this episode). Lots of action and fighting near the end. The art is great.(Female doctor fate looks awesome). For 21 minutes this was just masterful story telling. I mean they could make a 90 minute animated feature using this story because there is so much going on and different things they could explore.

But the best thing had to be captain marvel. Captain marvel is an incredibly sympathetic character and acts as conduit of wish fulfillment for the viewer. The sheer joy he gets from being part of this team is infectious. I know the idea of captain marvel has always been wish fulfillment for kids but i feel young justice taps into a part of the character that hasn’t really been explored before. The idea that when you’re a kid you’d kill to hang out with your older brother or cousin and there friends and do everything they do and be part of that club.

  11. Funnily enough, I’ve just started watching Justice League Unlimited straight through, and watched “Kids’ Stuff” right before I watched this. The plots are so similar and the execution so different…both great, though, in their way.

  12. Did this air on Friday for anyone else, or was it just me? Disclaimer: I have directv, and live on the west coast.
