Comments

  1. Wow, as amazing as always!

That Spider-Man sketch is awesome and would look damn good on my wall haha!

  2. Wow. Great Wonder Woman. Really vibrant.

  3. i like the hulk/wolverine after rockwell.
does anyone actually say “marvel’s” before saying “the avengers”? sounds silly.

  4. Love that Spider-Man.

I believe that the Hulk is fighting Sasquatch and not Wendigo in Jim Lee’s sketch.

    • Depending on who draws them, they look VERY similar, but I think you are correct.

    • I looked up Wendigo, and he looked exactly the same.

    • Avatar photo Paul Montgomery (@fuzzytypewriter) says:

Wendigo is woolier. And, as drawn, this creature is clearly brown like Sasquatch.

In the future, consult me on all things Wendigo, Josh. Life long fascination.

    • It’s probably Snowbird. Actually it’s Walter (Sasquatch) Langowski’s spirit possessing Snowbirds dead body. When he powered down he became a white haired woman… I think I was the only one reading Alpha Flight when Jim Lee first started at Marvel. I think Marvel forgot too cause they haven’t reprinted them… I miss Manikin.

    • Not piling on, but the “eyebrows” do indicate that this is Sasquatch. I’m really intrigued by how heavily you can see Lee’s influence from the Byrne/Austin artwork from X-Men. It’s remarkable how much he was borrowing from them when he started in comics!

    • Doesn’t Wendigo have a tail?

    • @kebly You are correct, Wendigos have tails (not the furry sash-thing we see here), and also a longer mane of hair. This is indeed Sasquatch. If the sketch is from 1987, it coincides with the beginning of Jim Lee’s run on Alpha Flight with Bill Mantlo.

@y2kkev It’s a damn shame they haven’t reprinted the Mantlo/Lee Alpha Flight run. Alpha Flight in space, Alpha Flight versus the Dreamqueen … it’s one of my favourite runs besides the original Byrne run.

  5. Steph Buscema’s Rocketeer and Wolverine & hulk are my favs

  6. Hardman sketch of Spiderman is great & Tocchinis’ zombie piece really good too.

  7. Jeez, not a slouch in the bunch. Well found, Josh, and well drawn, everybody!

That Tocchini sketch is an entire story by itself.

  8. Bobo the Bear is so emo….in a charming way.

    • Is “You’re my buddy” a quote from the bus scene in the movie “bully”? Just thinking about it now means my day is pretty much screwed… but a very nice sketch regardless.

  9. So the Hulk and Wolverine walk into a bar and….

  10. Rocketeer. Enough said.

  11. Tochinni’s art didn’t look like that on the X-force arc he just did. It’s a little bit easier to understand why he’s highly rated from this piece.

  12. No Hawkeye?! I really like the Wolverine and Hulk piece.

  13. I really love that Wonder Woman. What a beautiful face.

  14. Now I am humming the theme from “Rockford Files.” I’m probably the only person on here old enough to KNOW the theme to “Rockford Files”!

  15. Wow! As a longtime fan of the site, I’m thrilled to be featured! (I’m Stephen Green)

  16. I love every single thing I’ve seen by Steph Buscema.

  17. Loving that Spider-Man by Gabriel Hardman the best but Tom Fowler’s Wolverine and Hulk is a fun one as well.

  18. Another great batch Josh. That Wolverine & Hulk belongs in a gallery.

  19. Tocchini’s piece is great. I know he has gotten a lot of hate on this site but love his stuff.

  20. That Spider-man is great
