If previous teasers and marketing for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness were lacking in anything, it was Bones. Pine and Cumberbatch brought the bombast and the spectacle has been cranked up to 11, but we all know the real draw of this series is Karl Urban’s Leonard McCoy. This latest teaser trailer offers us the usual meat, plus the Bones. For this, we are grateful and eager for May 17th.

Oh, there’s also sea monsters, Bruce Greenwood, and a really tight squeeze.

In summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

  1. I am so excited for this.

  2. Wow. That got my heart pumping. Looks like fun.

  3. I’ve been sold on this for some time.

  4. I was already excited for this, but this preview makes me even more so. Glad to see that they won’t be skipping out on the humor amidst all the angst. And yes, that look on Bones’ face is priceless. Love the sea monster double take as well . . .

  5. So is this Kahn or a completely new villain?

    • I read some things earlier speculating that it is either Gary Mitchell or John Harrison. Gary Mitchell makes sense, and would be pretty cool. Harrison was a forgettable bit part in TOS.

There’s some speculation of Khan as well, but eh…I dunno. Khan at least had a bit of prior story when the movie came out.

  6. ‘Come on, it’ll be fun’

  7. Awesome. How rare is it one director comes along and directs the best Star Trek movie ever, what looks to be an equally great sequel and get to direct Star Wars movies that take place after Jedi. He is living the dream for real.

  8. Each trailer is better than the last. And it looks like Urban is still channeling Kelley perfectly.

  9. I have been a Trek fan for a long time. I would be seeing this if all it was was watching a new coat of paint being put on the Enterprise and then watching said paint dry. (Can paint dry in space? Or even be applied in zero g?)

  10. Damn it Jim, I am the law!

  11. Cool clip Am I the only one that picked up on the spoilery reveal on what Character Cumberdude is playing? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlAx6GZyPuQ&feature=player_embedded
