‘The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!’ – S02E17 – “Yellowjacket”

You can’t keep Hank down. He has too many identities.

Here’s how “Yellowjacket” is described:

A mysterious explosion seemingly kills Hank in his college laboratory, but as the Avengers and their friends mourn the loss of their fallen comrade-in-arms, a fearless new vigilante – endowed with the same powers and technology as Ant-Man/Giant-Man and Wasp and calling himself “Yellowjacket” – begins taking out the members of the Serpent Society.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

Comments

  1. It sounds like they are borrowing liberally from Avengers 59-60, which is what they should do a lot more of. They have several decades of material to translate to animation.

  2. Probably my favorite episode yet. I just love Yellowjacket! And how great was it when Janet threatened to zap Tony? I think I need to cultivate a crush on Wasp…

  3. The episode was good, but I think Hank’s transition from pacifist to “let’s go kick some ass!” suffered from it just being one episode. Yes, that’s how it was handled in the original series, but this whole pacifist Hank is different from the comic form (at least from the first 30 issues I’ve read in the Avengers omnibus) and I would have liked to see Hank’s perception of how his methods aren’t working, so he does need to take a more active approach. It’s kind of handled here, but it still felt kind of abrupt to me, since I really liked this universes version of Hank.

But, overall, I still dug the episode.

  4. I really liked this episode. I liked the “mystery” of the ID of yellow jacket.
    FUN.

  5. I thought this was great. I don’t know if there is anything we can do to stop them from cancelling this, but I have absolutely NO FAITH in the new series, especially if it is tied in with Ultimate Spider-man.
