‘The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!’ – S02E16 – “Ultron Unlimited”

Listen, and understand. Ultron is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Here’s how “Ultron Unlimited” is described:

The Avengers are ambushed and captured, one by one, by Ultron’s team of synthezoid Avengers as part of the wayward android’s plan to rid the world of “flawed” humans, perfect himself, and construct a mate.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

  1. They quite cleverly got around the Oedipal thing with Wasp in Ultron’s first episode, with him being programmed not to harm her by Hank. Then along comes Jocasta and the creepiness hits the top of the meter. What did he say? Something like, “I have a fascination with your mind.” or something.

As for the episode, damn good. Hit all the right points an episode of this show should have: A threat so daunting it almost killed the whole team, some nice action (better than usual actually), great bit with Vision at the end, and Captain America delivering a corny speech (but because he’s Captain America he can get away with being corny)

The only thing that soured it for me was the connection to Ultimates 3, which they handled a lot better hear, but anything that makes me think of Ultimates 3 cannot be enjoyed to its fullest.

  2. ultron is a great bad robot. although i like atomic robo, i have never been a fan of vision or vision being with scarlet witch, but i do like red tornado. maybe i have not read a standout issue for vision.

  3. Didn’t this already air in the US last week? I saw it on-demand on Time Warner. Great episode still.

  4. good ep.
