‘The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!’ – S02E05 – “To Steal An Ant-Man”

Hank Pym is back… and he’s brought Power Man and Iron Fist with him!

Here’s how “To Steal an Ant-Man” is described:

When Hank Pym’s Ant-Man suit is stolen, he takes it upon himself and the Heroes for Hire to find the thief.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

  1. Doesn’t the classic yellow outfit come with a metal headband and a bit of an afro?

  2. Funny how Tyroc and Black Goliath had similar costumes to Luke Cage in the 70’s. But worst costume in hstory? Has to go to the slutty Invisible Woman of the mid-90’s. I mean c’mon, that’s Franklin’s mom!

  3. Worst costume in history is the classic Namor speedo.

  4. I really enjoyed this episode. Again, like last week, it was about other characters more than the Avengers, but even more so this time around. I would have liked some more time with the Avengers, but the few interactions between Jan and Hank were absolutely fantastic. I’m starting to see the Leader that Jan grows into, instead of just the playgirl being a superhero just for fun. Can’t wait for Hank to come back to the team as Yellowjacket, the set up was definitely there this week.

Words cannot describe how excited I am for the Guardians of the Galaxy next week.

  5. Rocket Racoon and Groot!

  6. This was… okay. Probably my least favorite episode of the series. Partially it’s because I’ve never liked or cared about Scott Lang.

    • I can understand that. I still thought it was an enjoyable episode. I really liked the depictions of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Way better than the depictions we’re getting in Ultimate Spider-Man. While I would love a show that’s just about the Avengers, I’m liking that this is drawing in a lot of other elements of the Marvel Universe. It looks like that’s going to continue in the coming weeks.

    • It’s the danger that comes from expanding your focus beyond the core titular characters. It’s the same problem I had with JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED: when the spotlight falls on a character I don’t like or care about then the show becomes a lot less interesting.

    • Now see, I was pleasantly surprised by their willingness to go down this side street and barely feature any of the main characters.

    • @Jim: I don’t have a problem with it in theory. It just becomes dicey in practice when it’s a character I don’t like or care about that is spotlighted. Admittedly, this is just my problem.

    • I was really hoping for Eric O’Grady.

  7. Marvel fan but I dont read Heros for hire so maybe that’s why I didn’t reconize any of the b list villains. Who where they

  8. Has Sue ever actually cheated on Reed with Namor? I like to think she hasn’t, and even if you tell me I’m wrong I’ll probably still tell myself she hasn’t.

  9. Favorite episode so far.

  10. I liked the episode inasmuch as I got to see Hank Pym again. That was great since he’s probably my favorite Avenger in the show. Unfortunately he was kind of overshadowed by Scott Lang, which makes sense since they need to introduce his character as well as Luke and Iron Fist for the expansion of the Avengers. I did like Hank’s dilemma with trying to do good, but not wanting to resort to violence. Nice seeing him outsmart the villains by shrinking down Cassie. Hope we see more Hank as Yellowjacket soon!

Also, I liked the not so “zen” and laid back version of Iron Fist. Much better than the one in Ultimate Spider-man. No complaints about Luke. I like both versions in each show.

  11. Danny’s collar is MAGNIFICENT!

  12. Nah, don’t think she ever has. In issue #4 of The Illuminati Namor states that “she loves Reed so completely” that he could never steal her away from him. So, contrary to what the 90’s costume would suggest, Sue is not and never has been a slutbag. Come, to think of it, she’s the strongest female character in comics. Guess that’s why that costume got to me so bad.

  13. Iron Fist’s Dragon Tattoo also looks weird, like an eel with wings. What gives? They should have made it look badass like in the comics. Other than that, this episode was great.

  14. Yep. Luke needs a costume. In the comics too. He’s a great character…now give him a great costume!
