The Immonens Takes On He Who Shall Not Be Named

You think you know Stuart Immonen.  You think you know Stuart Immonen? You’re reading Fear Itself, you followed him in the pages of New Avengers — heck, you might even remember him from Nextwave. But now we’re seeing a whole different bag of tricks for this premiere draftsman and his wife, writer Kathryn Immonen.

I present to you: Voldemort’s One Hour Service.

Riffing off a bit of dialogue spoken by Voldemort in Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows where the dark lord elucidates and repeats the phrase “one hour” on several occasions, the Immonens have taken that into this New Yorker-style illustrations. Both of these were posted on Kathryn & Stuart’s tumblr, with more presumably in the offing.

These strips are a glimpse at a different side of Stuart’s art, which has been seen before in his webcomic-turned-graphic novel 50 Reasons To Stop Sketching At Conventions, the shorts he’s done in the past for magazines like Nickelodeon and Disney Adventures, as well as a rare strip in an Asterix book. As much as I love his super-hero style, I’d love to see Stuart be able to work on a project that incorporated both of these styles, even perhaps some other techniques Immonen has up his sleeve.

  1. hilarious and nice to see a broad spectrum of style and skill

  2. LOL these are great! I can see this going for quite a bit. The obvious one is a 1 hour photo place. Although i’d be pissed if my pizza took that long….

  3. He also uses this delineated style for the Moving Pictures book he did with his wife. Very cool stuff.

  4. these are really awesome. can’t wait to see more
