Call me crazy (cue the "you're crazy!" comments) but I'm starting to get pumped for Fear Itself. Steve McNiven will be the cover artist (trying to channel the monstrous success of Civil War, mayhap?) and here's the first one:
Of course I tend to talk myself into all of these big events, mostly because reading comics is supposed to be fun.

Immonen I’m in!
Comics? Fun? You ARE crazy, sir.
That’s the most feather-y I’ve seen Thor’s helmet.
Cool. I like the split panel cover treatment. Gives a bit of a sense of storytelling, rather than just groups of dynamically posed heroes (as seen in the top portion).
@daccampo Yeah, I like that part about it too.
The first 3 Reasons why this event is going to be awesome:
#1. Someone beat Thor down with his own hammer?
#2. Ironman, Spiderman, Steve Rogers, and Wolverine!!
And of course
#3. The creative duo of Fraction & Immonen = unreal.
I’m really intrigued about this event. What could possibly take down all the big guns of marvel, besides bad sells.
Oh yea…Steve McNiven
McNiven’s covers can be real hit or miss for me. In this case, it’s both. I like the layout, and Spidey, Ironman look good. Steve and Wolvie look weird though. Maybe it’s they way he does faces. Good job on the thrashed Thor though.
Haven’t decided if I am going to get this yet. Do we know any more about it yet? I have event-fatgue, so it just being the next big event is more of a turnoff than on.
regular cover or variant. if regular, I would say the only bad news is that means Immonen isn’t on covers too, but McNiven is a nice instead of.
@ABirdseysView According to Marvel it’s the regular cover. Immonen is doing the variants.
I think between the two, DC definitely has the stronger designer/branding.
That is a very nice cover. I’m super excited for this.
Von Grawbadger is the most Bill Murray villain name ever.
here’s the thing with event comics – the most enjoyable part of the event is the hype and marketing. Tom katers said on the podcast that an event is never more enjoyable than two weeks before it’s published before teh story eventually disappoints…. which is totally true.
This comic event? I have no feelings for. not a good sign
I’m excited for the event, and the cover is good. I’m not the hugest fan of the color and texture for the banner. It reminds me of the background to a bad commercial for a law firm.
That sure is pretty.
@conor that’s even worse. I wonder how hard it will be to order the Immonen variants.
McNiven’s art looks great but this looks more like a poster than a cover to me.
Love that all creators have the same size of font for their names.
Behind Fraction’s name, it should say “(Not Bendis)”.
conor, you’re not crazy, i am also really pumped for this event, it’s been a while since we had a good ol’ fashioned event nd i am also excited
Thor is sleeping like Batman on Batman Odyssey.
Really interested in seeing how Immonen does with an event like this, Fraction too. I hope this will be just as awesome as Civil War was b/c out of all the events Marvel has had that’s the only one I could enjoy.
well im excited.
I’ve been off sup comics for about a year now anyone wanna give me a quick run down of what i need to know for this event, I cant pass on a Niven event run
@JoeNY McNiven is not drawing interiors, and all you need to know that the Norse God of Fear has emereged. And the more your afraid of him, the stronger he becomes.
Nothing crazy about that at all. Seeing McNiven on covers and Immonen on interiors? I about peed myself. I can’t wait.
PeterParker- It’s been a while since we had an event??
Really?
On one hand- I like that the power and place of Asgard in the Marvel U is recognized
-Of course it would be a major player
But
With how many different Thor titles- (that no one seems to really want) Avengers- the movie the Siege sotry line etc
I personally am very much on the edge of Thor/Asgard burnout.
