Even now, Geoff Johns and David Finch rally the Justice League of America for a February 20th debut. Until Green Arrow, The Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Vibe, Catwoman, Hawkman, Stargirl and Katana take the purple mountains majesty and amber waves of grain by storm, we’ve got a quick peek at Finch’s rendition of the New 52’s “most dangerous” roster.
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #1
Written by Geoff Johns
Art by David Finch
$3.99/Color/40 pages• The march toward TRINITY WAR begins with part one of “WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS”!
• Green Lantern! Green Arrow! Catwoman! Katana! Vibe! Hawkman! Stargirl! They aren’t the world’s greatest super heroes—they’re the most dangerous! But why does a team like the JLA need to exist? What is their ultimate mission? And who is pulling the strings?
• Plus: Find out why Martian Manhunter is the most dangerous of them all. Period.
Catwoman, Green Lantern (the new one?), Hawkman, ??, ??, ??, Green Arrow…
Sorry, not a DC guy…
Stargirl (a newer character created by Geoff Johns when he was starting out in the business), Vibe (a terrible minor character from the 80s that’s being brought back as a joke), and Katana (a boring Asian character from Birds of Prey).
I listed them in the article, but the order from top to bottom on that page is: Catwoman, Green Lantern (Simon Baz), Hawkman, Stargirl, Vibe, Katana and Green Arrow.
VIBE!!!
That’s all I got.
If I may politely disagree with The Anti-Ronitor, I enjoyed Katana in Birds of Prey. If I had more money, I’d be picking up JLA for her & Catwoman . . .
This is gonna be awesome.
Really looking forward to this one. Hopefully it will not disappoint.
So, with only about 4 stories told in a year and a half, DC reboots the JLA?
Whatever it is, this is a common issue I have with DC since their 52 reboot . . . many titles like JLA felt incomplete, rushed and pointless. After 16 issues of JLA, I don’t feel there was ever a true JLA team or story. (Steve Trevor was more interesting than the heroes.) It took too many issues to tell so-so stories.
I actually enjoyed the back-up more than the JLA stories.
(Just wish it didn’t take so long the tell the story, It took about a year in the back-up story for Shazam to appear.)
I don’t think it’s intended as a reboot of the JL, but more of a brand extension. More characters, two teams…twice the sales!
Not a reboot, just a separate team.
Ah, that’s a relief. So I’m guessing this is similar to the old Justice League Task Force.
Yeah, it’s a totally different team than Justice League. Now we will have Justice League, Justice League Dark and Justice League of America.
Vibe looks worried… I wonder if history is gonna repeat itself
Why no Booster Gold… I can see Booster going the way of Wally West :'(
I’m in for this one. I just hope it doesn’t pull one of those “continued in Justice League Vibe” type things to try and inflate sales on those books.
I’m looking forward to this. I will also be picking up the Katana solo spinoff also. And I already read Catwoman. Not too interested in the Vibe or Green Arrow solo titles though.
Gee why could the telepathic, telekinetic? shape shifting, flying, super strong, invulnerable Martian with no real reason to ascribe to ‘humanitarian’ principles be the most dangerous being among those with a few toys and a few good skills? HMMM, a real brain teaser that one!
Also, yes there should be some Booster.
Did JLI get canned? I can’t keep track of which DC books are or aren’t published anymore, unless if they have Batman in them.
Yes. Four or five months ago.
Batman was in JLI.
A real shame; I really enjoyed that JLI run.
