Save ‘Wildcats’!

As you may have heard by now, Wildstorm has seen fit to cancel Wildcats. This book has been consistently good for almost four years since Joe Casey took over, and now we, the devoted following aren’t going to get to find out how it is supposed to end.

Go sign the petition, and let’s get this going. If they can save goddamned Spider-Girl and Captain Marvel, there’s no reason we can’t get this done…

You better not be reading this part unless you signed the petition.

  1. Well, I signed it….

but the difference between Spider-girl and Captain Marvel and this is…Marvel.

I don’t feel like DC (Time Warner) gives a damn…

  2. I agree. Besides, it looks like they’re killing the whole line, what with the additional cancelation of STORM WATCH: TEAM ACHILLES.

I bought both of those books for a while, but stopped for different reasons.

  3. The Stormwatch book doesn’t compare to Wildcats in my opinion. If they were cancelling the whole line, then Brubaker’s Sleeper Season 2 wouldn’t be coming out, but it is.

BTW, the sleeper trade is f’ing excellent.

At what point did you stop reading Wildcats?

  4. A long, long time ago. I don’t remember exactly. Over a year ago.

  5. i was just starting to like stormwatch, too

  6. I really wanted to like STORM WATCH, but I quit after three issues because the art was just too off putting.

  7. current stormwatch is pretty neat. it’s nothing like the first, wilce portacio thick-neck ones.

  8. I think I’ll end up buying the trades at some point.

  9. Here’s an interesting piece on the demise of “Eye of the Storm” from the retailer perspective:

  10. Over the course of several weeks, the most that petition has managed to gather is 378 signatures.

    That’s lame.

  11. Save the clock tower! Save the clock tower! Mayor Wilson is sponsoring an initiative to replace that clock. 30 years ago, lightning struck that clock tower and the clock hasn’t run since. We at the Hill Valley Preservation Society think it should be preserved exactly the way it is as part of our history and heritage.

  12. “Over the course of several weeks, the most that petition has managed to gather is 378 signatures.”

    Hence, the cancelation.

It’s too bad. Even though I stopped buying it, there needs to be more books like WILDCATS 3.0 out there.

  13. No, I mean it’s clear that there isn’t enough interest to sustain the book. That’s the sad part. So be it, but at least I tried in some way to do my part.

    Feh. I blame the fans.

  14. This is it. This is the answer. It says here that a bolt of lightning is gonna strike the clocktower precisely at 10.04pm next Saturday night.

  15. Nerd.

  16. There’s that word again, heavy. Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth’s gravitational pull?

  17. The first time, it was stupid, and not funny.

    The second time was annoying.

    The third time…..comedy gold.
