PREVIEW: The Defenders #7

Over the past 6 months, The Defenders have  quietly been a series that I’ve been enjoying quite a bit.  Matt Fraction’s approach with the legacy team this time around has worked for me on several levels. First off, the team dynamic is one that brings a unique gathering with the right amount of humor in their interactions.  Secondly, the “secret” nature of The Defenders as they solve the challenges that keep the universe together and yet no one can know, are just starting to play out and that tension is something that’s making this book an even more compelling read.

We got out hands on the below preview of issue #7, which shows off artist Terry Dodson’s skills as he returns to a very familiar character, the Black Cat.  Throw in Black Panther and you’ve got dark hued felines at every turn. Here’s the solicit info and the preview below!

  1. The complaints about how Terry Dodson draws all his women the same definitely has some validity, but when it comes to Black Cat, I don’t mind at all for some reason

  2. I like Matt fractions work. This series is one of my fave new marvel books along with winter soldier and Scarlett spider.

  3. Dodson!

  4. Yeah, Dodson can draw Black Cat forever as far as I’m concerned, and I’d buy every issue of it.

I can’t take the sex-factor out of it, but even if you try to just look at it objectively… his style is just a perfect match for that character.
