Preview: RZA & Ghostface Killah Present TWELVE REASONS TO DIE #1

Listen. I don’t always jog. But when I do, it’s sweatily, with the sorry gait of an earthbound pelican, the strains of the Wu’s 36 Chambers pumping through my earbuds. I played the Playstation’s Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style in my buddy Will Toffling’s basement, his mom clicking her tongue at us as she loaded the washing machine. And you know I played as Ghostface, gasping, stuffing my knuckles in my mouth at the revelation that Master Xin got turned into a lamp. Ghostface Killah’s no stranger to comics, making allusions to Iron Man in his various enterprises. So it should be no surprise that he’s got some anti-heroes of his own up his sleeves. Created by the man himself, produced by RZA under his Soul Temple banner at Black Mask and written by Matthew Rosenberg and Patrick Kindlon, with art by….holy cripes, everybody. Seriously, this list is unbelievable.

It’s all based on a concept album by the same name, a collaboration between Killah and producer Adrian Younge with guest appearances by Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa and more. Now the comic’s arrived.

  7. i’m listening to the album this is based on right now. it’s good. scary good. like ennio morricone/henry mancini and the wu decided to have a creepy, creepy baby.

  8. Witty Unpredictable Talent And Natural Game

  9. I am pretty sure I remember reading an interview with Method Man where he talked about naming himself Tony Stark and Iron Man was about the only thing Ghostface ever did related to comics. According to the interview he gave, Meth is the only one of the clan who actually read Marvel Comics growing up. Whether or not this is true, I have no idea. I am a huge Ghost and RZA fan so I will check this out. But I hint they are more influenced by the crime, samurai, and Kung fu flicks of the 70’s rather than comics.
