PREVIEW: Prophet #22 by Brandon Graham & Simon Roy

One of the early success stories of 2012 in comics so far has been Prophet from Image Comics.  Brandon Graham and Simon Roy’s Prophet #21 has been one of the most universally well received launches that I’ve seen in years. Their man out of time/sci-fi take seems to have hit a nerve with comics fans and they’re not letting up.

Earlier today Image Comics publisher Eric Stephenson posted a preview of Prophet #22 on his blog. Here’s what he had to say:

Prophet #22 is barreling to finer comic book shops everywhere in a few short weeks, and it’s actually better than Brandon Graham and Simon Roy’s first issue.

I could rattle off a list of reasons why, but since Simon decided to do a new cover for this issue that no one’s seen yet, I figured I’d let that and a few of the pages speak for themselves.

After seeing the cover (to the right) and the interior pages provided, I have to admit that these pages do speak for themselves.

Prophet #22 hits comic stores, coincidentally on February 22nd, 2012. If you missed issue #21, you can read it on Graphicly below and catch up.

  1. Awesome Cover! I Can’t wait for issue 22! absolutely love the art in this series. And the Story! I hope it gains some momentum and becomes a breakout hit for image. i’d love see this book last and see what the creators can do with this unique world

  2. Had a blast with issue 21, really looking forward to this one. Image has really been doing things right lately. Consider me impressed.

  3. Is it me or does the look of the main character remind you of Samurai Jack?

    • I was thinking the same exact thing. A cross between Javier Bardem’s character in No Country For Old Men and Samurai Jack… Now that is one serious dude.

  4. LOL @ X3 🙂 This book looks really good. it has an European vibe to it. I must jump on board. Now the dilemma: digital or paper? Hmm….

  5. I saw the title of this article and panicked for a second. I thought it was going to double ship this month already. I haven’t had a chance to pick up and read issues 21 but I plan to. I’ve only heard good things and the preview I read on Graphic.ly was gorgeous.

  6. My new favorite comic book.

  7. fantastic stuff! art and story 5 out of 5
