PREVIEW: Moriarty #7

Moriarty #7Did you know there was a sequel to the Robert Downey Jr./Jude Law Sherlock Holmes movie coming out this month? I had no idea. I can’t say I enjoyed the first movie, but I enjoyed it enough for it to remind me of my fondness for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters. A fondness that has been extended with Image Comics’ Moriarty series.  If you’re a Sherlock Holmes fan and you’re not reading this, boy are you missing out.

Focusing on Sherlock Holmes’ nemesis, Dr. Moriarty, Moriarty has had all the flavors of classic Doyle stories, with a slight dark/edgy twist.  Image Comics has provided a preview of Moriarty #7, with a story by Daniel Corey and guest art by Mike Vosburg.  Part 3 of the story arc, The Lazarus Tree, which takes Moriarty back to a case in Jamaica in the 1880s.

Fans of historical fiction, and the victorian era, as well as mysteries and Sherlock Holmes really need to be reading this series. If you need convincing, check out these 9 pages from Moriarty #7, which hits comics stores tomorrow, December 7th for just $2.99, as well as digitally (available on Graphicly – check out part 1 and 2 of The Lazarus Tree now) same day as print.
