PREVIEW: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales

We all know that before Buffy the Vampire Slayer season eight hit the comic shops, Sunnydale's saving grace staked her claim with seven stirring seasons of television. But with all the success of season eight, it's easy to forget it wasn't the first time the Buffster found herself on a spinner rack. Next week, Dark Horse resurrects some of the Scooby gang's earliest comic adventures in a big ol' hardcover collection entitled Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales

Here you'll find stories from Joss Whedon and television series writers Jane Espenson and Drew Goddard, as well as actress Amber Benson (Tara). And the list of artists is mighty impressive too, with turns from Gene Colan (!!!), Cameron Stewart, Tim Sale, Steve Lieber, Leinil Yu, Becky Cloonan and more.

Here's the full issue rundown:

MySpace Dark Horse Presents #31 and #32; Tales of the Vampires: Carpe Noctem parts 1 and 2; Buffy: Tales of the Vampires one-shot; Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales of the Vampires #1–#5; Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales of the Slayers #1–"Broken Bottle of Djinn"; Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales of the Slayers TPB

Comments

  1. I’ve never watched Buffy religiously, but I’m probarbly gonna pick this up to see what it’s like. Worst comes to worst and I have no idea what’s happening I’ll give it away as a gift or something. The art is really nice, though.

  2. It’s worth checking with your store to see if they have it in already. It’s sitting on the shelf of the store I work in already.

  3. that cover is stunning.

  4. Hole-Lee crap…this is like a Who’s Who of my favorite artists.

  5. pre-ordered this baby and will be waiting for me @ my LCS

  6. I read a few of those…I wanna say Tales of the Vampires back when they came out and they were really good. I might pick this up.
