NYCC 2012: Morrison Goes Legendary with ANNIHILATOR

When Grant Morrison said he was doing more creator-owned comics, he wasn’t kidding. After the success of Happy! with Darick Robertson at Image, Morrison announced at this weekend’s New York Comic Con that he is doing another creator-owned project titled Annihilator and published by Legendary.

According to reports, Annihilator is story-inside-a-story not unlike the movie Adaptation, with a down on his luck screenwriter named Ray Spass dealing with the plot of blockbuster movie interfering with his actual life.

“Our story is that [Spass] has got this movie and he kind of makes a deal with the devil,” Morrison told Comics Alliance. “Two days later, the FBI shows up at his door and says, ‘A man just turned up — in a black hole we created. Why does he want to meet you?’ He looks at the picture and says, ‘This is the new character in my new flick.'”

Morrison and Legendary weren’t ready to announce an artist just yet, although they say one had been chosen and they were just awaiting finished contracts. Annihilator is scheduled to be published in 2013 as a six-issue miniseries.

Comments

  1. I’m getting it, no matter who’s drawing it as long as it’s not Greg Land!

  2. The new movie Seven Psychopaths is pretty good meta-fiction. Its like Adaptation with gore and criminals.
