NYCC 2012: Marvel TV Introduces ‘Marvel’s Avengers Assemble’ and ‘Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.’

On the same day that DC Entertainment’s cartoons mysteriously disappeared from the air, Marvel TV introduced its two newest animated shows at New York Comic Con.

Marvel’s Avengers Assemble

Taking the place of the nigh universally beloved The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble looks to hew much closer to the ridiculously popular Marvel Studios film, Marvel’s The Avengers. At least in appearance. We’ll see if the rumors are true that not only will it feel similar to the current kids-skewing Ultimate Spider-Man, but take place in the same continuity.

In the meantime, here’s what we know: Iron Man leads the Avengers team that consists of The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow and new team member Falcon (who is supposedly going to play a big role in upcoming Marvel Studios films). The voice cast includes: Adrian Pasdar (Heroes) as Iron Man, Fred Tatasciore (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness) as The Hulk, Roger Craig Smith (Wreck-It Ralph) as Captain America, Travis Willingham (Shelf Life) as Thor, Troy Baker (Ultimate Spider-Man) as Hawkeye, Laura Bailey (The Super Hero Squad Show) as Black Widow and Bumper Robinson (The Game) as Falcon. Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steven T. Seagle of Man of Action Studios (Ben 10, Generator Rex) will serve as executive producers.

Interesting to note that Adrian Pasdar and Fred Tatasciore voice Iron Man and The Hulk, respectively on Ultimate Spider-Man. Does it mean anything? (They also voice those characters in Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United.)

Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.

The Hulk never seems to be too far from television, does he? While Guillermo Del Toro continues to develop a live action series for the Green Goliath, Marvel TV brings us Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H..

Here’s what he know: The Hulk is joined by his cousin She-Hulk, the Red Hulk, A-Bomb and the savage Skaar to face threats that are too enormous for other heroes to handle. The voice cast includes: Fred Tatasciore (Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness) as The Hulk, Clancy Brown (Superman: The Animated Series) as Red Hulk, Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse) as She-Hulk, Ben Diskin (Codename: Kids Next Door) as Skaar, and Seth Green (Robot Chicken) as A-Bomb. Emmy Award-winner Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series) and Henry Gilroy (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will guide the series.

Fred Tatasciore is The Hulk here too! That guy OWNS The Hulk.

Comments

  1. I’m looking forward to both shows. The animation looks as good. I just hope that it’s NOT that Disney-fied kiddie aspects from Ultimate Spider-man.

  2. i’m not a fan of the current marvel cartoons, i find ultimate spiderman to be unwatchabley annoying and the avengers just bores me, i’m not sure why, i just can’t get into it? whereas i can’t get enough of batman: the brave and the bold and young avengers, i really want warner to produce more dc toons!

    • When I watch Ultimate Spider-Man, I can totally see my niece and nephew loving his smart alec remarks. So I think it does just well with it’s main demographic – kids. I think the Avengers is a little plain, but I enjoy both shows.

  3. Once again Marvel is missing the mark with these if they follow the Ultimate Spiderman path…

    • In my opinion, Marvel misses the mark with their animation quite a bit. Not 100% of the time, but quite a bit.

But, and I probably am in the minority with this, I prefer Marvel print but DC animation.
DC print does little for me, but their shows are usually outstanding.
Marvel shows are usually underwhelming, while I’ve enjoyed their comics for decades.

  4. I think “Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.” has the makings of a surprise hit. It has a stronger voice cast and Paul Dini as one of the show-runners.

  5. Whoa Paul Dini running a Hulk show?!?!?!!!

    YES!

  6. Looks cool. I’m even considering watching USM and Super-Hero Squad.

    I’ll miss A: EMH.

I wonder what they’ll do with the MUA: EMH and Avengers Assemble comic books.

  7. I hate Ultimate Spider-Man and if this show is anything like it, I’ll be severly dissappointed. Avengers:EMH was finally getting into the deeper history of Marvel with the Vision and Winter Soldier storylines too and now it ends prematurely IMO.
