NYCC 2010: Dark Horse Announcements

Dark Horse has a slate of stuff coming up that was announced at the New York Comic-Con.  Let's run it down.

  • Danny McBride co-writes the comic book prequel to his upcoming film, Your Highness, along with Jeff Fradyey, with art by Sean Phillips and Gabriel Guzman.  It'll be out in March 2011, and cost $7.99 for 48 pages.  Some people get excited for Danny McBride, but me?  Sean Phillips.  Every time.

  • More Baltimore!!!  Late next year, the one legged, weapon-toting vampire hunter returns in Baltimore: The Curse Bells, with the same creative team of Mignola and Christoper Golden, with Ben Stenbeck and Dave Stewart on art.  It'll be a 5 issue mini-series.  There's a summary of the story, but really, it's Lord Baltimore being all sullen, and then killing the face off some European vampires.  I am signed up for this stuff.

  • Steve Niles' Criminal Macabre returns, and crosses over with Eric Powell's The Goon. With art by Christopher Mitten, and written by Powell and Niles, there's a lot of monster killing and zombie apocalypse going on.  I'm guessing it will be wacky.

  • Joss Whedon brings more Dollhouse to comics in 2011 with Dollhouse: Epitaphs.  Co-written by Joss Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, with artist Cliff Richards.  This one-shot will be the prelude to the upcoming comic series.

  • The Guild returns to comics with The Guild: Vork!, written by Felicia Day and Jeff Lewis, with Darick Robertson on pencils.  They're getting some fantastic artists to do this stuff, if you haven't noticed, and Vork is played by Jeff Lewis, so he'll probably have a pretty good handle on the character.

  • Starting October 11, there's more content coming to DH:HD.  Dark Horse launched their initiative with Toshiba a few months back, and we haven't heard anything about it, but now, there's a bunch of content coming to USA Today's website though the deal, including the following original content.  Check out the names involved, and particularly the Mignola bit.  Delicious.

“Hellboy: The Whittier Legacy, ” written and drawn by Mike Mignola.

“Serenity: Downtime, ” written by Zack Whedon with art by Chris Samnee.

“The Goon: An Irish Wake, ” written and drawn by Eric Powell.

“Conan: Kiss of the Undead, ” written by Ron Marz with art by Bart Sears.

"Mass Effect: Inquisition, ” written by Mac Walters with art by Jean Diaz.

Look for more details on the project as it becomes available.
