More Pics from “Justice”

Two of the three iFanboys are quivering with anticipation for the much heralded Justice League episode of Smallville! Kryptonsite has a new gallery of stills to whet the appetite.

“Justice” airs January 18th!

Here’s Ron’s take:

‘I cannot wait for the Justice League. That should be the new show — they move to Metropolis and all live in a loft. Part Smallville, part Real World.”

I believe that was part of the concept of that awful Justice League pilot CBS ordered years back.

Comments

  1. yeah, but this wouldn’t have David Ogden Stiers

  2. nice pics.

as for ron’s show, it’s a boys club right now. if they did the real world thing they would have to add some ladies… i could see black canary joining the mix… maybe ice… zatanna…

  3. agreed, definitely need 2 girls, which would bring the cast to the nice, team friendly number of 7.

Speaking of which, have you ever noticed that 5 and/or 7 is like the ideal number of super heroes on a team, as well as on the Real World (7)

  4. I’m gonna laugh when Bizarro shows up on the season finale!!!!

  5. I don’t think that they could just add two girl supers like that, everybody on the team has already had at least one “adventure” with Clark and at least 2 of them have mentioned a team up (Impulse and Aquaman) so they have been planning this for awhile and it would be kinda of weird for them to just add super heroeslike that wether their male or female.

Wasnt there a girl superhero a few seasons ago, I remember she worked with Chloe or something.

  6. There was a female vigilante in Metropolis who ALSO WORKED AT THE DAILY PLANET. She sucked and was not based on any comic book character.

  7. Ya I rememeber that it was when Smallville had a few sponsored episodes, that one was like contact lenses then there was one on a car, those episodes sucked!!!

  8. No Bruce Wayne?

    No thanks!

  9. Let Judd Winick write Real World: Justice. Wasn’t he ON The Real World?

  10. Yes, Real World: San Francisco.

  11. I give way more of a care about this than my history would suggest; I may well end up watching Smallville for a few episodes.

I see in my news ticker that the “O.C.” is no longer with us. A moment of silence.

  12. Ouch.

    Fox’s once-hot ‘The O.C.’ is canceled

LOS ANGELES – “The O.C.,” the once-hot teenage soap opera that saw its ratings plummet like a delinquent student’s grades, has been canceled. The final episode of the drama will air 9 p.m. EST Thursday, Feb. 22, Fox TV and Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. said Wednesday.

The finale “will deliver real closure to the series, to the story we began telling four years ago,” series creator Josh Schwartz said in a statement. “It will be fun and emotional and I think really satisfying. It is the finale we always planned to do.”

  13. I really want to see this episode and I hope it leads to two hour tv movies.

  14. YAYYYY the OC is over

  15. I guess we can always count on Darrel and Jimski for predictably contrary opinions.

  16. they are indeed bizarros of one another

which is probably good for jimski

just kidding no need to make fred voodoo dolls

  17. Actually, I’ve never seen an episode of the O.C.– I sort of dismissed it out of hand when it premiered– but I knew the iFanboys had some O.C. fans amongst them and wanted to show my sympathies. Lord knows Fox has killed some faves of mine in their day.

  18. Um, back to Smallville. I am sooo hyped to see this episode. It had better be good. The images/trailer looks great.

    I have high hopes.

As far a series goes, who knows?

  19. I fear that this episode is reaching Phantom Menace-like expectation levels.

  20. I had nooo expectations for THAT movie. LOL.
    But I get your point.

They’re pretty good over there in Smallville land.

As long as it doesn’t totally suck like X3 I’ll be good. I just want to see some cool team ups.

And Cyborg is sooo freaking hot.

  21. Superman Returns was the big superhero movie letdown of 2006 and not X3.

  22. I loved X3 i thought it was awesome, and I actually have a really bad feeling about this, and I liked the first season of the O.C. thats the only one I saw.

  23. Darrel: I totally agree. Singer really dropped the ball. It’s supposed to be a sequel, but Singer ignores the fact that Superman made Lois forget at the end of S II and had Luthor forget that he had already tried that damn real estate scheme once before. Not to mention that twice now Luthor has let some lame-brained secretary foil his plans for world domination.

If you take the S off his chest, you’d see that in this movie S is the ex from hell. He abandons Lois without a goodbye, comes back 5 years later, gets pissed when he realizes she’s moved on, eavesdrops on her, then tries to seduce her on the rooftop. Plus, he never once offers to pay child support. Deadbeat! He should have at least shown some concern that their kid had a horrible haircut and that Lois was barely pushing 85 lbs.

The movie peaks with the airplane sequence then goes downhill from there.

I’m not saying the movie is bad (B or B-), but, if it is better than X3, it’s not that much better.

  24. I have to say that both X3 and Superman R were a tad disappointing. I’d give the edge in quality to Superman (85%) over X3 (80%).

In terms of audience reaction… It’s more a question of expectation I suspect. X3 is definitly an action movie whereas Superman R is more of a drama with action vignettes. If you were expecting steak and someone serves you salad then of course you won’t be happy. This I think explains a lot of the unhappiness with Superman R.

On an unrelated note… Do American schools only give out letter grades (A, B+ et. al.) without supplying a numerical score?

  25. Do American schools only give out letter grades (A, B+ et. al.) without supplying a numerical score?

Depends on the school. It’s a good mix between letters and numeric, with most schools doing both.

  26. American schools, in my experience, give out letters in elementary, numbers in middle and high school, and letters in college
i’m sure that it varies though

  27. He should have at least shown some concern that their kid had a horrible haircut and that Lois was barely pushing 85 lbs.

    Brilliant.

I have to say I was a little surprised to hear our ifanboys embracing Superman Returns. I found it extremely disappointing, badly written, poorly cast (Kate Bosworth? really? c’mon). My biggest problem is that I’ve recently started to dig the big guy, mostly through Kurt Busiek’s writing, Superman: Birthright, and the top of the OYL arc when he didn’t have powers and his personality really started to shine through, and I felt like the film had no idea who this guy was and made no choices other than to make him Super Stalker.

I was disappointed with X3 for other reasons, mostly for killing Cyclops (offscreen!) and the rather lackluster way they dealt with Phoenix, one of the great comic book story arcs ever reduced to a multiple personality disorder. Lame.

On a positive note, I saw the extended Ghost Rider trailer today, and although I have no love for the character and had initially totally written the movie off, the trailer sure made it look like it just might work.

  28. Hi, it

  29. Not that i

  30. Gray’s Anatomy. It’s the number one show in America.

Did we say that Heroes‘s ratings were dropping? I don’t remember that…

  32. I fell asleep in the theatre. really. I can make no comment outside of that but I think that says a lot anyway

  33. America largely watches American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. Very smart, witty content doesn’t usually generate audiences big enough to remain on a network. But yes, Gray’s Anatomy is the biggest thing right now, and it’s fairly smart, so I guess there’s some hope.

  34. I was thinking about this last night and I initially didn’t weigh in because I always end up coming off as an elitist in these conversations. Which, by the way, I probably am but I’m in touch with it so fuck it.

If I could draw a comparison, it is said that the people get the government that they deserve because they are the ones who vote for it or abstain from voting.

Television is much the same. There are few more truly democratic venues in the world than the world of tv. We vote with our time and our dollars. Unfortunately most of America is stupid. Deal or No Deal proves my point. I don’t know how Identity is doing but if it’s doing as well as I expected it to then that proves it too.

I used to watch Gray’s Anatomy. I stopped at season 2 episode 17 when it went really stupid and lcd(math not electronic). They had a two part episode where someone had a bomb in their fucking chest. That happens all the time, the news is shitty with stories about that.

I think that it’s kind of telling when that is the ‘smartest’ show doing well right now.

  35. They had a two part episode where someone had a bomb in their fucking chest. That happens all the time, the news is shitty with stories about that.

That was awesome. I hate dropping such a pointless post, but that “Fred-ism” in particular had me busting up.

    This place rocks.

  36. How can noone mention Scrubs? I love Scrubs and its been on like 15 different networks. The only shows I watch on television: Lost, Scrubs, How I met your mother, 2 and a half men, Scrubs, Jericho. How come there hasnt been a new episode of anything in like 3 months? I think Jericho got canceled, and I dont watch Heroes cuse I have no idea what the fuck is going on so I’m just waiting for the DVD.

  37. Whoa, slow down, dude. Scrubs is on all of TWO networks (NBC and Comedy Central). It’s my third favorite show, behind A.D. and S.P. I met Donald Faison a few weeks ago (he’s dating my boss….natch) and he is SUCH a cool effing dude. He’s pretty much Turk in person.

Scrubs probably has the best supporting cast in ALL of television. Period. Bar none. Between The Todd, Ted, the Janitor, etc etc, the “smaller” characters really make that show.

  38. Last night’s Scrubs was the best of the season. It can be hit or miss, but I usually admire the chances it takes. I tried to write a Scrubs spec, and it was hard. Kelso is the unsung hero of that show. ALWAYS funny. Also, it’s best when they bring the heavy drama and mesh it with the funny. But that doesn’t always work. Cox and JD need haircuts. Badly.

  39. I watched way too much Scrubs this week, twice in the morning and twice at night on comedy central, EVERYDAY. damm I love vacation

  40. Scrubs is also a great comedy show. Best drama’s of 2006 are Battlestar Gallactica,The Unit,Heroes, the Wire,Dexter, and Sleeper Cell. I HAVE SPOKEN

  41. I like scrubs and sometimes it makes me laugh, but is not a show I crave like I did seinfeld, Arrested or South Park. Scrubs for me is like Family Guy. I Can

  42. Scrubs is also like Family Guy for me, in the sense that in a way I can’t believe either show still exists. In the case of Scrubs, I really like it but it seems like the network is devoted to strangling the show with its bare hands. In the case of Family Guy… I thought it was dead but, hey! There it is still! Somehow! Way to go, you… show!

If Scrubs were to be canceled tomorrow, though, I would be at peace. After all, it has been on for six seasons now. There are many other better shows that didn’t make it six seasons. Even Arrested Development, when it ended, had had enough time to let me go, “Well… three seasons. It had a good run.” I mean… if Firefly had had Family Guy’s luck?? Forget about it.

  43. Whoa. I thought this was a thread on Smallville? Oh well. Someone asked about ratings and why are shows losing them and where are they going… the questions assume that viewers, if not watching one network/cable TV show, are watching another. I think people are just migrating to other media (internet, DVD rentals of older stuff, comics, podcasts, BBS, etc.) and so ratings for ALL TV shows are dropping. It’s like when people stopped listening to radio because TV was the new thing, now TV is old hat.

However, Josh has made the point that movies in theatres are pretty bad and fewer in number, but TV’s quality is up as the good writers migrate there. But then again, people like Joss Whedon and Kevin Smith are also writing for comics. TV and movies can no longer count on having the luxury of only competing with content carried on the same medium.

Just think — as you read this, what TV shows are you not watching? As for Smallville, all I can say is Season 6 has made an amazing recovery from the past two lame ass seasons. I suspect Steven McKnight, who worked with “Team Whedon” on Angel, may be a big reason…

My personal favourite is the kid who plays Bart, which was really a stand out episode in season 4. If anybody deserves a spin off, that would be him and his “kid flash.” As for Batman/Bruce Wayne and Wonder Woman, the producers of Smallville have said they’re STRICTLY limited by DC and Warner Bros. as to who they can use, so sorry, no Bruce or Diana. bummer. A young Bruce would be a perfect foil for Lex, and I’m guessing Smallville is using Ollie Queen as a substitute for Bruce, which so far has been a pretty satisfying workaround.

  44. if you get TELEMUNDO on your cable system

I watch Telemundo sometimes. It’s great. Well it’s terrible but that makes it great. It seems like every show is just an excuse to find some reason to make a large breasted women in really small dresses dance.

  45. Whoa. I thought this was a thread on Smallville?

    It was. 😉

It seems like every show is just an excuse to find some reason to make a large breasted women in really small dresses dance.

Don’t forget, on Telemundo soap operas, there’s always a close-up on somebody crying right before it cuts to commercial!

  46. and the men cry one single tear

  47. I can’t remember the name of it but did you ever see the one with Bruno with the penciled on moustache?

  48. No, but it reminds me of the guy on Arrested Development with the penciled on freckles on his cheeks. Oh man, fuckin priceless.

  49. The identity of “kid flash” has been driving me nuts for days, and then it hit me: he’s Beaver from Veronica Mars! Which, if you’re a CW viewer looking to branch out, is a worthy expenditure of an hour. I’m especially looking forward to the new storyline, since the previous one was all, like, “Hey, rape talk is entertaining,” and I was more like, “Well, no, not really.”

  50. Cheers from Tokyo, Jimski. You have my vote for official Zen Fanboy Master of Wisdom. So rare to find a fanboy so attuned to “The Middle Way of BuddhaFanhood.”

As for Bart/Kid Flash on Smallville, I actually had my “flash” moment of recognition the reverse of Jimski. I was very, very impressed with the actor who played Bart/Kid Flash in Season 4 (the entire episode was one of Smallville’s best in 6 seasons), then months later saw Veronica Mars. See, I went the reverse way — I thought who the heck is that kid playing Beaver? I’ve seen him before…. then it finally hit me it was the kid who played Bart. I think its a testament to the young guy’s acting skill as the two characters are pretty different — great to see such acting range in one so young when many older adults can only play one type. Don’t get me wrong, the Ashmore twins are handsome guys (always a plus) and good actors (Bobby Drake-Iceman/Jimmy Olsen/Veronica Mar’s 2nd boyfriend), but they seem, like Tom Welling, to be good at playing handsome young men and that’s about their range, unlike Bart/Beaver.

BTW, is it just me or is the lead actress on Veronica Mars a clone of the one playing Chloe? I think I’ll take Chloe, being a BtVS fan, I like the spunk.

What little I’ve seen in hinted spoilers about the “Justice” episode (which may just be gossip) is that the story might be based around Bart, which would be a great move.

Ever since I saw him play Bart in Season 4 I’ve been convinced he would be the best bet for a successful Smallville spin off. Think: more of a BtVS type show, more goofy fun and less dopey eyed romance like Smallville. More hip geeks and less “oh poor me I am so hansome and popular….my super powers and good looks cause me nothing but pain and misery…”

I’ll take Kid Flash. I really think that kid (Bart/Beaver) might even challenge Buffy for cult hero status. Now if they could only find someone to write it and get it right… (story of the Flash’s career, eh?)

  51. I don’t…uhm, I ah…..what?

    What’s BtVS?

  52. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

  53. Y’know, I logged offline, got in my car, went around the corner, and yellped a hearty “Oh Fuck Me!” when I realized what it meant. Thanks, Conor.

  54. Sorry… I only fell victim to using the “BtVS” abbreviation after gorging with relish all 7 seasons and seeing it used ad infinitum ad naseum by all the Buffy fans on the web. There was quite a LONG time when I too was like, “BtVS? Bitca? I’m lost…”

ANY WHOOSEL, the point is a Buffy type show featuring a strong supporting cast, a gang of geeky, cool, funny and fun friends like the Buffy show, who would play off the main character, would be a good vehicle for that Beaver kid as Kid Flash and even better than Smallville. If handled right. Fat chance.

  55. http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0701/10/index.htm

The CW has confirmed that Bart Allen will be known as Impulse, and not the Flash, in the upcoming “Justice” episode of Smallville.

(Not very much) More in the link.

  56. “Yeah” for Martian Manhunter (you could tell from the brief teaser appearance before in a previous episode), and “Boo” to “Impulse” instead of Flash (or better for that character) “Kid Flash.” I am terminally Old School, just my personal bias. I’m sure the kids will love it either way, and the guy playing Bart is a great actor, so I’m sure both epidsodes will be good, just beware of letting your expectations run too high. Season 6 as a whole has been much better this year, and one episode will just be that — one episode, with a limit to what they can do in just 40-45 minutes. In fact, I am a little leery of them cramming so much into just one episode, and I’m hoping they stretch it out to a more than one episode story arc featuring the other characters.

  57. Finally a new episode but Tori Spelling? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
