REJOICE! Marvel Releases New Printings of Omniboo

Imagine my glee when I sat down to process my e-mail this morning and came across this tidbit of information we got from Marvel late in the day yesterday:

“Marvel is pleased to announce that November will see new printings of Marvel’s first three groundbreaking Omnibus Editions. The sold-out The Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus, Vol.1 HC, Fantastic Four Omnibus, Vol.1 HC, and Uncanny X-Men Omnibus, Vol.1 HC

This means that those of you weren’t able to pick up these fantastic books of collections of our favorite comics, you’ll be able to! Of those three, I don’t have The Amazing Spider-Man one, so I’ll be sure to grab it when this is released.

I love the Omnibus format. (Seriously, I took it out on a date. We went to a nice dinner in NYC and then we saw a movie, it was lovely.) But my one complaint on it was the limited print run and how difficult it was to get your hands on one if you didn’t drop the $100 immediately. Those long time iFanboy Faithful probably remember my quest for the Uncanny X-Men Omnibus, Vol.1 HC, which was crazy. So if they’re going to do second printings, then I feel like I can relax a little, save my money knowing that I’ll probably be able to get that Fantastic Four Omnibus, Vol. 2 HC eventually, if I’m patient.

So if you’re in position where you wanted one of these three books but missed out, be sure to tell your retailer to ORDER one for you so you don’t miss the boat again!

Uncanny X-Men, Vol. 1
The Amazing Spider-Man, Vol. 1
Fantastic Four, Vol. 1

Comments

  1. Nice. I’ve already got the Spider-Man one, and I think I’ll jump in on the FF Vol. 1. I like that the new printing matches the design of the other volumes, unlike the first printing.

  2. What about the ALIAS OMNIBUS…. That’s the one I’m clamoring for. Any word on that?

  3. I’ve been pondering the original Fantastic Four one, but was unwilling to pay outrageous ebay prices. This will look excellent next to my Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus.

  4. This is great news. Thanks for sharing. I know what I’m getting for Christmas.

  5. I was on the fence about these but now I think I really want those Spider-Man and FF books.

  6. I just bought Essential Spider-Man Vol 2, so I already have all the Spider-Man issues

  7. Definitely putting those on the Christmas list. I’m reading the Superman in the 40’s book by DC and loving it.

  8. What exactly are the Omnibus? Are they full color, and what issues are included? Is it like 1-50 or “key” issues?

  9. Just wondering from anyone, I only have enough for one. Which one should I buy?

  10. Noel B.

There are quite a few people after the Alias omnibus but Marvel only gets that demand via backorder demands that Diamond gets, unfortunately I missed out on the omnibus but I’ve got all the Alias single issues.

Where’s the damn New X-men Omnibus, I want to read about how Grant Morrison stuffed up Ron’s perfect X-men.

The plural for Omnibus is Omnibuses (for some reason people think it has to be something weird).

An omnibus is usually an entire story arc(s) for a certain creator, usually it’s a seminal piece or a very popular piece in single issue, trade and hardback form. It’s Marvel’s answer to DC’s Absolute hardcovers.

  11. What exactly are the Omnibus? Are they full color, and what issues are included? Is it like 1-50 or “key” issues?

They are full color and oversized. Look at the pictures linked above and you can see the covers on the back of all the issues that are included.

  12. They are full color and oversized.

Are they oversized? I thought these were the same size as a comic, only much thicker. Does anyone know how the pages hold up? Do pages ever fall out?

  13. So how much are they at retail price before everyone puts them on ebay? $100?

  14. Some are $99.99, some are $74.99.

  15. Any idea when they are coming out?

  16. This new printings shouldn’t be avaiable for pre-ordering in Amazon?
