Don’t let the Bush Administration know! The publisher may well be labelled traitors.
Actually, in an interesting move, Marvel gave a huge collection of comics to a French museum. The collection spans from the 50’s through the 70’s and contains over 300,000 books. They declared the value at $300,000, but it’s likely worth a lot more than that, unless 1/3 of the issues are copies of Web of Spider-Man #74. The comics will be sorted and sent to various museums in Europe eventually.
Good move I think. It beefs up the idea that this stuff is history and therefore significant. And the Europeans in general have a better attitude towards graphic arts than Americans, so it makes sense to me.
Does this have something to do with the french guy who dresses up like Spider-man?

I think what Marvel did was really great for exactly the reasons Josh listed.
Viva la France.
