Light Week? Try Rachel Rising #1, The Infinite #1, or Severed #1

This is a week to try something new. Start something from scratch, and check out one of these first issues!

Josh says try:

Rachel Rising #1

By Terry Moore

There's something satisfying about writing only one name in the byline section. I don't do it that often. But Terry Moore not only writes, draws, and letters his comics, but he does them like clockwork, and if that wasn't enough, he does really good books. The jitters of his sophomore offering Echo went away quickly, and he completely delivered. So with this next series, we get to see what else Terry Moore has in him, and apparently, it's a little supernatural and horror. The guy is a machine!

Ron says try:

The Infinite #1

By Robert Kirkman & Rob Liefeld

Listen people, I've read the first issue of The Infinite and it really is worth the read.  Yes, the are pouches, but there's also exposition and character backstory.  Kirkman and Liefeld have put together a time travel action story that is going to be a wild ride that has all the promise of a long run.  If you're looking for guaranteed comic bookin' fun, then here's your book.

Conor says try:

Severed #1

By Scott Snyder, Scott Tuft, & Attila Futaki

Between Detective Comics and American Vampire, Scott Snyder is one of the best new writers to come along in a long while. It's good to know that when he's not too busy directing the adventures of the most famous super hero in the world and creating a mini vampire empire, he's got some smaller, more personal creator owned stories in him. We talked to Scott about this book at San Diego Comic-Con and I couldn't be more excited. Check out Paul's review of the first issue here.

  1. Hey!  I’m already getting two out of the three here.  Thanks for the validation, guys!

  2. @misterckent  I’m already getting two of these as well! I’m very excited for them.

  3. I want to read The Infinite, but I’m so scarred by Liefeld’s ’90s work that I can’t bring myself to do it..

  4. I think this may be the best group comics in the “Light Week?” columns.  I don’t know which book out of these I’m most excited about.

  5. Good picks guys. Two of the three are pulled and waiting on me at my shop!
