Light Week? Try GI Joe Cobra #5 and Tom Strong and the Robots of Doom #1

Sometimes you look down at that pull list that you just made and you realize there aren't many books on it and that you've got a light week! And that just won't do! You can't go all the way down to the comic book store for just a handful of books. It's at times like these that you need some suggestions on new comics to try. Well, luckily, we're here for you.

G.I. Cobra #5

G.I. Joe Cobra #5

By Mike Costa, Christos Gage & Sergio Carrera

If you never got around to reading G.I. Joe Cobra the first time around, despite our repeated advice, over and over, here's your chance one more. The issues so far have focused on the previously ridiculous Chuckles, and the creative staff have upped the challenge. They have now chosen to do a good, modern story about Serpentor. Every moment of this series has been gold so far, so I have every confidence that this too will be incredible, but even if it fails, there's no way it won't, at the very least, be a spectacular failure.

Tom Strong and the Robots of Doom #1

Tom Strong and the Robots of Doom #1

By Peter Hogan & Chris Sprouse

I've never met the man so I can't confirm, but I imagine that Peter Hogan has giant balls made of stainless steel. I bet he makes a clanking noise when he walks. Why do I say this? Anyone who has the gumption to take over for Alan Moore must have stainless steel balls. I don't know much about Hogan. I do know that he wrote three issues of the original Tom Strong series, but I don't remember if I read those or not. I don't know if this book will be any good or not but I do know that it will be gorgeous because they were smart enough to get Chris Sprouse and Karl Story (the original Tom Strong art team) to handle the art on this book. I also know that you should check this book out if big, burly dudes fighting ROBOTS OF DOOM sounds up your alley.

Comments

  1. Leave it to G.I. Cobra to make Serpentor seem cool.  I didn’t think that was possible.

  2. Sadly, at $3.99/issue, a light week still feels heavy.

  3. Ok the new Cobra Commander design completely awesome right? Its not just me right?

  4. @Impossibilly: That’s true. I don’t mind if it’s a light week, just saves me money for the heavy ones.

  5. It’s not a light week, last week was a light week. This week is normal volume for me.

  6. (It’s just the name of the feature.)
