LEGO’s omni-media takeover continues.

While Spider-Man won’t be joining the cinematic Avengers any time soon, his deligtful mini-fig joins the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the newly announced LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game along with a slot machine official site. Having just assembled a LEGO Lex Luthor mech and clocked in a handful of hours in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes over the holiday break, this is a welcome bit of news.

“LEGO Marvel Super Heroes” offers an original storyline in which Nick Fury calls upon Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine and other heroes spanning the Marvel Universe to save Earth from such threats as the vengeance of Loki and the hunger of Galactus, Devourer of the Worlds. LEGO and Marvel fans will enjoy classic LEGO videogame adventure and humor, while playing as their favorite Marvel characters.

From the sounds of things, much of the Marvel catalog is involved in this one, from the usual suspects listed above as well as the Fantastic Four and increasingly ubiquitous Guardians of the Galaxy.

Look for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes starting this Fall on Windows PC, PS3, the 360, Wii-U, the Nintendo DS, 3DS and the PS Vita.

  1. I love these Lego video games. Currently, I’m making my way through the Lord of the Rings version. It is a bit distressing that this game won’t be released for the Wii as that’s all I own. Might be time to finally upgrade the ol’ gaming console.

  2. My Fiancee will be extatic with this news! She LOVES the Lego games. She’s currently trying to 100% complete Lego Batman 2 on the PS3 before moving onto LOTR. She’s been going on about a Lego Avengers game for months!

  3. Batman 2 was awesome fun! My son and I completed the whole game, it was great fun. LOTR has been a lil boring. Marvel will be pretty cool.

    • The problem with Lego LOTR is that they’re adhering too close to the movies in the cutscenes. It really slows things down. Also, pantomime = better jokes. The game would be better without the voice work.

  4. Good year for Deadpool in video games. Or a bad one, if your a Deadpool hater.

  5. Lego game *and* Marvel superheros? Sign me up. Let’s hope they put out some minifigs and lego sets to go with this, now that they’ve got the licensing rights 🙂
