Heroes – S02E07 – Out of Time

Tonight’s episode: “Out of Time“!

Momentum is a beautiful thing, my friends. I’d like to see it continue because I’m having a blast watching this show.

With tonight’s episode comes word that Heroes is planning for a possible prolonged strike by the Writer’s Guild. Word is all over the internet that the producers have called the cast and crew back to shoot an alternate ending for the December 3rd episode that would serve as a season finale should the strike not resolve quickly. The December 3rd episode is intended to be the wrap up of the “Generations” story, and will serve that function should the strike end in time. The producers haven’t given an indication when that cut-off date is, however.

Comments

  1. Anyone buying the Heroes Graphic Novel Wednesday?

  2. I may pick it up but there are so many X books coming out htis week it may be overdoing the mutants.

  3. I cut one of my primary typing fingers and it’s all bandaged up. Typos ahoy!

  4. here we go!

  5. Here we go.

  6. Jinx

  7. I hope that either Hiro comes back to the present of Kensei kills him. Either way, I am growing tired of this storyline.

  8. Wow I thought that was Sylar. Oops.

  9. Aaah! Priceless works of art!

  10. I love team ups. But back to the future now I guess.

  11. Has Parkman deputized Nathan yet? He might as well, he’s acting like Parkman’s partner at this point. He should at least have a gun.

  12. Are Heroes are going to tell us how to stop Global Warming now? Awesome?

  13. I loved the “Oh. Uh, hi.” nonverbal moment between Nikki and Nathan. I’ve had those too many times.

  14. Post-apocalyptic NY. Awesome.

  15. Claire’s phone vibrating made me start to look for mine. Damn foley.

West is creepy. But in an awesome way. This show needs more evil characters to make the other side seem more formidable. He better be evil and not just creepy – it will be such a letdown if not.

  16. stupid McShaggy boy

  17. Good call Conor, I like guns

  18. It’s only a matter of time till floppy mcanikin starts physical abuse on Claire. Abuse relationship with a regenerating cheerleader?

  19. Claire’s boyfriend is T-R-O-U-B-L-E!

  20. Sweet and action scene

  21. What’s more awkward? Fighting crime with the girl you used to sleep with? Or knowing that your dad tasered and possibly experimented on your floppy haired boyfriend?

  22. Cool, Mat has more powers

  23. Hiro’s riding the dragon now.

  24. Psycic Battle between Matt and Dad would be awesome.

  25. I bet this isn’t what Peter envisioned when he thought about showering with Caitlin.

  26. This is very 12 Monkeys.

  27. Gracious nudity only on NBC.

  28. makes the nuke in ny look like disneyland

  29. Whoa, some virus

  30. I hate Christmas commercials before Thanksgiving.

  31. I got a kind of arc of the covinent holding area vibe from the scene with the dead bodies. “No one will ever find it”

  32. It’s awesome that so many people are on here tonight. I’m so happy.

  33. LOVE IS THE CURE FOR ALL!!!

  34. I usually hang with my grandmother on Mondays (she’s a widow and gets lonely) so I’m not on

  35. here’s how it breaks out

  36. For a big guy he sure is sneaky.

  37. Does Adam live in a shack on the Lost island?

  38. Getting strong Star Wars vibes with sith apprentices and the like.

  39. I guess neither the virus nor the super serial killer can take out Ma Petrelli.

  40. Does Adam = Kensei?

  41. I agree that the writer’s strike sucks. The stupid companies should give them a cut. Seems to be about digital distributions. I heard writer’s got screwed on DVD and VHS sales and don’t want this to happen again. I heard they get 5 cents per dvd! $60 for half a season of Sopranos and they get a nickle.

  42. “Does Adam = Kensei?”

    Yes!!

  43. Whoops – the HRG jig is up!

  44. Popsicle a sexual inuendo? YES! He’s gone.

  45. “Popsicles…awesome.”

    Indeed.

  46. Hiro looks pensive

  47. They better not ty to turn Floppy McAnakin sympathetic! I won’t play that game!

    The Nightmare Man is creeeepy.

  48. Jessica is Nightmare mans puppet. Cool nice touch making her a better character.

  49. You know wht I like? I like when actors aho always play one type get to breakout and play against type. The Nightmare Man always gets the cuddly, funny dad roles. Here he’s freakin’ evil and the fact that I still see him as the nice guy dad when I look at him makes him all the scarier.

Kensei is just a whiny bitch. Talk about insecurity issues.

  50. Sword fight baby!

  51. that sword fight looks pretty crappy compared to the fights on Bionic Woman.

    More realistic perhaps

  52. that explosion looks like the birth of a super-villian

  53. I thought this episode was going to be all in the future. Oh well, this episode is already amazing enough.

  54. “that explosion looks like the birth of a super-villian”
I was thinking the exact same thing.

  55. Saw the “Kensei stuck in explosion” coming.

Can’t wait to see him in the present. We know it’s coming.

  56. In mind fight.

  57. I saw that injection coming

  58. I don’t think Nikki can physically close her mouth.

    Wow.

I did not see that coming.

  59. love the wallpaper

  60. You have bested me, Six.

  61. Way to go Matt. I’m lovin him this season.

  62. that mind fight blew me away

  63. After The Nightmare Man got trapped in the apartment and the camera canted, I expected Rod Serling to saunter out and say something pithy about a man being trapped in his own nightmare. That was such a Twilight Zone ending shot.

  64. So now Catlin is stuck in the future. New element to Peter.

  65. SixGun we should team up. We’re precogs. We’ll be unstoppable!

Also Peter just teleported w/out Caitlin. I had a feeling that would happen, but didn’t want it to. That ass!

  66. You have bested me, Six.

So that’s like taking the pebble from your hand right?

  67. I thought Parkman should have died at the end of last season but now I’m glad he didn’t.

  68. If Peter Changes the past what happens to the Caitlin that is stuck in the future? Will multi universes open up?

  69. Hiro is really becoming the tragic hero

  70. Time travel is a dangerous game to play and this show is playing it a lot. I’m just going to try to go with it. Either way, sucks to be Caitlin.

    Hiro’s storyline is boring me.

  71. Did I miss something*? Why doesn’t Hiro just TAKE HER WITH HIM BACK TO THE FUTURE?!?!

    * I fully admit I might have missed something, it’s hard to type and read subtitles.

  72. Great homecoming!

  73. She is staying behind to tell the story of Kensi the way Hiro remebers it.

  74. Great homecoming!

    It was.

  75. I think it would screw with history too much

  76. umm… secrets Mohinder?

  77. “He left fingerprints.”

Hahaha! I thought about that last week when he trashed the apartment.

  78. You can burn all the paintings you want, HRG, but that ‘ain’t gonna stop the future.

  79. HRG is the freaking man

  80. Oooh the reveal!!

  81. good call on Adam

  82. Hell yeah I called it! We all did! hqahhahahahaha!

  83. DoctorDoom wins.

  84. Next week looks scintillating.

  85. Kensai – Adam… Adam – Kensai… The man who can’t die!

  86. Thanks Conor.

I have to agree with you about next week…soooo looking forward to it.

Heroes really has picked up momentum.

  87. Wow, this has really become a quality show

  88. I’m so happy with this episode it sucks there could only be like 5 more this season

  89. Really good episode. I think they are really hitting their stride. I like the fact that Bob is now one of the “good” guys because I feel as though he’ll have to betray them sometime down the line since he’s with the company.

  90. This was the only episode this season that I really liked. I barely rolled my eyes at all. Might be the mess though.

  91. I think Hiro left the past a little early. If I was him I would have banged the princess first then go back to the future. She was hot.

  92. I’ve been predicting killer=adam=kensei for a while, so I feel slightly vindicated about being right (so far) and slightly depressed that I wasn’t surprised. Still, good cliffhanger. I was actually more impressed with the cliffhanger leaving Claire in the future…now THAT was a detail I didn’t see coming…

  93. OH MAN!!!

I completely called the fact that Adam (at the time no-name no-face killer) was Kensei back in episode 2 or 3.

    Damn it feels good!

  94. Kensei/Adam is a great villain for the present/future. Can’t wait to see him come face to face with Hiro. I hope he sticks around longer than Generations. I think he has more potential than Sylar. Sylar would be his minion. Okay, now if the damn Wonder Twins storyline can kick into high gear all will be great with the series. I like the Monica/Micah pairing but it’s about time for them to get into something heavy. Don’t trust Bob. I don’t think the writers are going to wipe away all the grey so quickly.

  95. Did everyone catch Jeff Loeb planting trees with the Heroes on one of the “green” breaks? Floppy head boy idea: better than having him evil is to make him blundering good. He screws up everything without intending to. Then he dies. Next week looks awesome plus Kristen!

  96. Why? Why did this episode have to be good?? I was going to stop watching the show this week, but had no plans for tonight and threw it on.
That was really one of the best.

  97. Excellent episode. One question, though. Is Bob’s ability is to transmute matter (a la Firestorm)? He turned the spoon to gold, so I guess so. When Nikki’s after him, I was expecting him to turn the door into something harder, like steel. That is an awesome power to have and I would have liked to see him use it, especially with his life on the line.

  98. Or maybe he can only turn things to gold? Even then he still should have turned the door to gold to save himself. But then, a gold door is probably too heavy for its hinges and would rip out the doorframe.

  99. I think his power is to only turn things to gold.

  100. “Oh and by the way Mohinder, Claire is the key.” Again? It seemed so all of the sudden and out of place.

  101. The showrunners have said repeatedly that the powers of the heroes can and will evolve over time or with practice. Witness Parkman’s new abilities.

So if Bob started out turning things to gold, I think he’d be able to transmute more than that. Then again, maybe he started out making coat hangers out of paper clips and worked up to the gold thing.

  102. Tim Kring has officially apologized for this season.

    http://www.buddytv.com/articles/heroes/from-heroes-to-zeroes-creator-13520.aspx

  103. That’s weird. But what did he actually say? That article didn’t have any quotes or anything. Not that I don’t agree and wouldn’t love to be vindicated by no other than the showrunner, but that whole article is the blogger’s opinion.

  104. THE PACE IS TOO SLOW ”We assumed the audience wanted season 1 – a buildup of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers. We taught [them] to expect a certain kind of storytelling. They wanted adrenaline. We made a mistake.”

THE WORLD-SAVING STAKES SHOULD HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED SOONER The premonition of nuclear apocalypse created a larger context that unified every story line last season. Kring now sees that Volume 2 (the first 11 episodes of season 2) would have been better served if Peter’s vision of viral Armageddon had appeared in the season premiere rather than episode 7. ”We took too long to get to the big-picture story,” he says.

THE ROOKIES DIDN’T GREET THEMSELVES PROPERLY New Heroes Monica (Dana Davis), Maya (Dania Ramirez), and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) ”shouldn’t have been introduced in separate story lines that felt unattached to the show. The way we introduced Elle (Kristen Bell) – by weaving her in via Peter’s story line – is a more logical way to bring new characters into the show.” (That said, Kring says a few newbies won’t make it beyond this second volume, which wraps Dec. 3.)

HIRO WAS IN JAPAN WAY TOO LONG Hiro’s (Masi Oka) time-bending adventure in 17th-century Japan – where he mentored samurai hero Takezo Kensei (David Anders) – finally came to an end on Nov. 5. But Kring says it ”should have [lasted] three episodes. We didn’t give the audience enough story to justify the time we allotted it.”

YOUNG LOVE STINKS Kring regrets sticking Claire (Hayden Panettiere) with a super-dud boyfriend and forcing Hiro to moon over a cutesy princess. ”I’ve seen more convincing romances on TV,” he admits. ”In retrospect, I don’t think romance is a natural fit for us.”

  105. That’s awesome.

  106. His comments about young love suggests that there is no deeper, darker side to floppy hair. So will they kill him or just let him run away and be seduced by the dark side?

I thought Hiro’s mooning was good in that it added a note of tragedy, helping the fanboy mature.

  107. “So, this guy Noah Bennett–”

“I give up, Bob! I’ve been working with Bennett this whole time! I’ve been plotting to destroy you!”

“Um… wow. I just… I just said his name. I have got to play poker with you some time.”

Seriously: what the hell?? If an alligator had fallen through the ceiling tiles and eaten him, that could not have been more out-of-nowhere.

Good episode. Don’t get me wrong. Just… wha??

  108. Sorry about the link, I meant to send a more detailed one. Thanks for the save Conor.

  109. How do you think the floppy haired actor took it? “You just don’t matter son. And you kind of suck.”

  110. I was wondering similar things about the newbie actors. I imagine it’s more of “It’s not you, it’s me.”

  111. I was wondering similar things about the newbie actors. I imagine it’s more of “It’s not you, it’s me.”

Heh. And then do you think he said, “But I hope we can all still be friends, right?”

It’s interesting Kring came out so publicly apologetic. It’s cool, but I almost think it might hurt them. It gives the viewers too much of a sense of the hand behind the show (and perhaps the viewers own influence on it).
