Tonight’s episode: “Lizards”!
Last week’s premiere of Heroes landed to a bit of a mixed reaction. I really enjoyed it myself. I just hope that it hasn’t become de rigueur to bash on Heroes. That would be disappointing.
Last week — no big truck flattened Nikki and/or Micah. My fingers are crossed for this week. If it doesn’t happen this time I may have to cross my fingers and toes. If that doesn’t work I will have to find a chicken to sacrifice.

I thought it was great last week. Last season was so good I think everyone expects a sophomore slump, or that last season couldn’t be topped. I thought most of the main story lines from last season tied up well and I’m looking forward to new ones to explore.
I really enjoyed the premiere. I watched the DVD box set in 3 days with the me watching the finale to season 1 right before the season 2 premiere aired. It was experience. I kind of oversdosed on Heroes.
PS: Micah and Nicki need to be killed by Peter by accident or something because it is the only part of the show that takes me out of it

The thing that annoys me about the bad Irish accent on the lead thug is that they are missing the chance to introduce us to some great unknown Irish actor instead of having a a bad accent come from a familiar face.
Poor Sulu. I miss him already. It’s lucky he fell in Detective Parkman’s jurisdiction.
Is this Heroes or Back to the Future? Kensei is going ot end up at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance.
Way to not stand out, Claire. Boys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses. High schools on TV crack me up. My high school was full of type-A nerds. You stood out if you *didn’t* participate in class.
It’s gutsy for Heroes to have illegal alien heroes in this current political climate.
At least the actress playing Caitlin is legitimately from the UK.

I don’t think I quite understand the Wonder Twins’ powers yet. The girl seems to have Form of… Deadly Conjunctivitis. And the guy seems to keep it at bay? Or he absorbs it? I wonder if they are good or evil.

I am really, really intrigued by the older heroes. I love the generational aspect of this show. I’d love a flashback season – Heroes in the 1960s or something.

I think I read he was going to be in the past for like 1/3 of the season.

My girlfriend had the same problem with Peter not just taking the box, especially after he threatened to leave using his “new found” powers. My affection for the show found me defending it with terms like “prolonging the drama and mystery,” but the more I think about it.

Irish people wouldn’t say “quid”. Quid is an English slang term referring to the pound because the British mint used to be in a town called Quidhampton.
And Ireland is on the Euro anyway.

I think he was surprised by the attack and behind Kensai. Then I think he was just shocked at screwing up the spacetime continuum again and shocked at his childhood legend is dead because of him. But let’s say he would’ve realized that he could travel back in time to save Kensai but the guy started healing.

I’m pretty happy with this season so far, just like you said Conor, i’m really interested with the older generation. Seeing Mrs. petrelli get attacked was pretty intense and I want to know who the others are, also I really want to know more about nathan and peter’s father.

Where did peter get his new EMP power? I don’t think that’s from Ted
Mrs petrelli talking about sleeping with Hiro’s dad…..gross….yet interesting.
I want more of Nathan, he’s my fav character and I want to see more about the path that he’s on……and that beard sure makes him look grizzled.
Is there some trick to getting into this show? I tries last year and couldn’t. Then with all the buzz I tried again last night and… it couldn’t keep my interest. It’s not bad. I can’t even honestly say I have any opinion on it other than it can’t seem to hold my attention for more than 7 minutes.

The Irish are definitely on the euro, and don’t use pounds. But Northern Ireland use pounds, so maybe they’re dealing with smugglers from there. I don’t know. It was just a bit sloppy.
Also, the brother and sister don’t have the same accent. That’s kinda crappy.

The change to euro was only a few years back, I would think the slang “quid” would still be used in Ireland. I live in the north of England and my dad still uses the term tuppence, and even Shilling every now and then, which were changed to new money it the late 60’s

liked this more than last weeks – thank goodness for more isaac mendez paintings. the whole “knowing the future but not knowing what it means” was a ridiculously fun part of last season’s greatness.
i’m not as into as i was after two episodes last season, but i’m now officially intrigued here. the whole mystery of the older generation is definitely starting to be interesting…
Okay, just watched it. Like last week, this episode both intrigued and infuriated me.
Good stuff: Hiro and Sark’s story is great, even though the story is Back to the Future (like Conor said) and Army of Darkness, and Kensei is Captain Jack Sparrow. It’s still the best thread going right now. Dania Remirez is an astonishingly good actress (proof that X3 wasn’t her fault).
Bad stuff: Pretty much everything else. Peter’s new EMP power and his ‘Oirish’ cohorts (why would they think he stole their ‘oi-Pods’ and then chained HIMSELF up in the cargo hold???). Clare’s slight “oohhh” as she cut HER OWN TOE OFF (she can regenerate but it still must hurt mroe than that, right?).
I really want to like this season, I swear. I loved season 1, with the exception of the finale, and I keep trying to convince myself to ignore the bad stuff. It’s just not the same show. The soul has gone.
I hate people who rag on a hit show just to be different, which is why I feel so conflicted. I’m trying to find things to love (and there’s a couple of things to like so far), but I’m still going to call BS when I see it.
The magic just seems to be missing. I’m kinda with Josh in that I’m thinking about dropping the show (with Weeds, Dexter and Damages, there just isn’t enough time for crappy telly), but I may stick with it for Sark and Kristin Bell for a while.
I promise I’m not trying to be a hater, if they give me something to get behind that has even 10% of the first season’s heart, I’ll do a U-turn so damn fast!

I believe he means that with good shows like Weeds, there is no time for shows he believes to be crappy like Heroes.
It’s late, and being tired makes Josh stupid.
So is this like the Countdown syndrome? You love or missed season 1 (52) than tried to get into the second season that wasn’t as good or didn’t pick up right away (Countdown).
Conor’s right, I was using Weeds/Dexter/Damages as examples of good telly.
I’m not flat out calling Heroes crappy, just more of a let-down so far. I guess it’s like comics… with so much good stuff out there, and limited time to devote to it, it’s getting to the point where I’ll have to start making harsh decisions about what I stick with.
Again, I’m REALLY not trying to hate on this. I’m TRYING to love it, as I loved the last season, I’m just waiting (and hoping) for them to give me something to love. Although I seem to be coming across as the ‘Anti-Heroes Guy’, I promise this is not my intent.

Honestly, I thought the first season of Heroes started out really freakin’ slow. This season seems to be starting out either at the same pace or a bit quicker. All in all, I think it’s WAY too early in the season to bitching about it.
I’m also glad I never took whatever college classes seem to have killed the enjoyment of movies and TV that I see among certain folks here as well as other friends of mine. 🙂
Um, is Claire ever gonna … ya know … do anything? I mean besides make up excuses to maim herself? It would be nice if there were someone doing something hero-like. Kinda sad when Hiro has the most control over his power and is the only one saving the day.
I disagree with Sixgun as well. Last season seemed a lot more bloated and unorganized with a whole lotta plot threads to follow. This season has everything tied together a little better; they’re just not giving us a lot to actually CARE about this time.
