Heroes – S01E17 – Company Man

So is Horn Rimmed Glasses good or evil? Does he reside in a gray area? I hope we find out tonight!

Tonight’s episode: “Company Man.”

I’m excited about Heroes again. There was a bit of a lull when it returned opposite 24 but now it’s back at full speed again. I think my renewed interest stems from the idea that not all of the main characters are turning out to be good guys/girls and not all of them are surviving. I love TV that shakes things up and takes risks and surprises me and Heroes has done that so far.

  1. I think my renewed interest stems from the idea that not all of the main characters are turning out to be good guys/girls and not all of them are surviving.

that and the fact that, aside from 24 this is the best main-stream shop for balls out action with a brain.

  2. Having seen the episode already thanks to Canada airing it earlier, man this was a good one. Big reveals, big action, and big story developments. And I love the grey area these characters are finding themselves in, especially someone like Matt Parkman who had been trying to use his power for good.

  3. did not see that coming (thought it was weird that they had Sulu playing such a minor role)

  4. Claire’s burning scene was like the end of X-Men: The Last Stand only better.

  5. way better and way to go claire

  6. claire is funkin’ awesome!!

    Horn rim glasses is evil.

Bomb guy rocks, unstable powers fragile psyche. He has all the makings of a great superhero!!

  7. I would have to go with HRG being good at this point. After this point he is my Hero without powers.

OOH linderman and spiderman could there be a better week

  8. I love Eric Roberts. I was hoping he would be Linderman, but I guess not.

    Whoa! HRG’s partner was Eccelston!

Double whoa! Sulu us back and… in charge?? Was Hiro deaf as a child? He overheard all of that!

I’m loving these black and white flashbacks.

I’m pretty sure that everyone in this episode should rapidly develop really bad cancer.

Bombed out Claire was gross and awesome.

It kinda looks like The Haitian shot him too high.

I feel really bad for HRG now.

  9. Awesome episode (wait, should none of us use that adjective?). I don’t know for sure, but it looks like they got someone new to do the editing. At the least, they’re doing new things with the editing, and it rocks. Really fantastic writing on this one, too.

Also, is it just me, or does Ted (Nuclear Man) look like one of those cavemen in the Geico commercials?

  10. that was a great episode

  11. I’m pretty sure that everyone in this episode should rapidly develop really bad cancer.

I had the same thought – especially since the grass around that guy, like, instantly died last week.

It was a great episode, love the flahsbacks, and how HRG and Dr Who used to work together – this show really has set up so many different stories for itself to tell, it could almost never run out.

  12. So Galactus is going to be in FF I’m guessing, due to that commercial.

  13. HOLY COW, what a doosie.

I wanted to spoil everything for you americans yesterday when I got to watch it early. But I figured I’d hold off.

I’m VERY impressed with the direction the show is going in, and I love HRG as a tragic character.

  14. Great great episode. I was a little burnt on the HRG guy but now he has to be one of the best characters on the show.
This episode was definetly full of dropjaw moments.
But it leaves so many questions.
What happens to claire’s dad? What happens to Claire? Does the dad now totaly forget claire ever existed and that he ever worked in the paper factory?

Next week’s show should be a biggie with the Linderman reveal and the Spiderman 3 trailer. NBC really has a gem with Heroes and it shows b/c they are hitching spiderman to its tow.

  15. So Galactus is going to be in FF I’m guessing, due to that commercial.

Unless the people involved in the film are outright lying to conceal a surprise… nope.

  16. Very good stuff this week guys. I’m really enjoying this show and it honestly seems to grow in quality each week. I have loved HRG for quite a while now, and I was glad to see him in a better light. I still don’t quite understand the physiology of how Claire’s power would let her just cough that bullet up, but that’s also why I love this “popcorn movie” fun show.

    schark:

This totally freaks me out b/c I was just saying this a few weeks ago. I am glad that someone else out there see’s it.

  17. I liked the episode, although it didn’t reveal as much as i was expecting it too. I really like this show but after watching the first two seasons of LOST on DVD for the second time, i’ve realized how predictable it is. i’ve never really been suprised by anything (other than the stan lee cameo) i’ve seen ever twist coming, unlike LOST (although this season of LOST blows)

  18. Unless the people involved in the film are outright lying to conceal a surprise… nope.

Yeah, they’ll probably do something lame like make The Silver Surfer the great threat to the planet instead of the great threat’s herald.

  19. Great episode. I’m liking Parkman’s character more and more as time goes on. Good job making HRG sympathetic. I enjoyed the reveal that his wife has been mindwiped before. Got a couple of questions, though:

    1) If Sulu is (or was) in charge of this whole thing, wouldn’t he take his son’s hero quest a little more seriously? He knows powered people are out there. Maybe there’s more backstory to be told.

    2) How did Parkman get back to the paper company? Did I miss something?

    3) After Ted is tranquilized, is any mention made of mindwiping Mrs HRG or the son yet again?

Looking forward to next week’s episode. And I agree with Conor 100% about the cancer. Everyone in that house (except Claire and Ted) is on borrowed time.

  20. i would think radiation poisoning would be more likely, and isn’t there a shot they give someone who has been exposed to high levels of radiation to lower the risk of getting cancer. even if there isn’t they could say the super-secret organization developed one and that is why everyone survived.

  21. wow, great episode
i opted to watch heroes instead of 24 and boy did i make the right choice this week…

they tranquilized ted?… really the syringe didn’t melt or anything before she could reach him.

parkman after bouncing off the radioactive bubble twice definitely has some radiation poisoning

eric roberts goes for a shoulder shot?

who does the Haitian work for?

the Haitian didn’t have time to mind wipe anyone he had to be on the run as soon as eric roberts showed up

what is HRGs new partners power?

who was the invisible man protecting?

why does everything in NYC happen on top the same roof? was simones father somehow connected?

  22. schark:
Also, is it just me, or does Ted (Nuclear Man) look like one of those cavemen in the Geico commercials?

So that’s what has been bugging me about him. Thanks.

    Conor:
Double whoa! Sulu us back and… in charge?? Was Hiro deaf as a child? He overheard all of that!

Hiro’s not paying attention. At that age when you play video games you’re body is present but your mind isn’t.

    Conor:
I’m loving these black and white flashbacks.

They remind me of the flashbacks in The Pretender.

    Flounder:

Does his dad know he has powers? Compared to Claire, Hiro got his powers quite late. Plus he hasn’t used them in quite a while. Does his dad even know what his quest is? All his dad knows is that Hiro is trying to get back his ancestor’s sword. That’s it. No?

    patrick:
why does everything in NYC happen on top the same roof? was simones father somehow connected?

Every time I see that roof I think of Ghostbuster for some reason.

  23. i said the same thing about Ted! he has that scruffy cave man look. this episode was awesome! things are starting to unfold and little clues are being put out there. cant wait to see whats in store. also, why did the Hatian shoot HRG if he was erasing his memories anyway? and does anyone else think Claire was channeling wolverine in the ted going nuts scene?

  24. lucky luciano:
why did the Hatian shoot HRG if he was erasing his memories anyway?

If the story is going to be: “The Hatian helped Claire escape and I’m still a loyal company man.” then the Hatian didn’t have a choice to shoot him. It makes the story believable. Otherwise it’s a little thin.

  25. Hey, does anyone remember an old TV series called Profit starring ye ol’ Nathan Petrelli?

  26. Ouch, talk about type casting.
I forgot to post about the show. Probably because I was knocked unconscious from the absolute wickedness of it all and have just awoken 2 days later.
(random guy points at the post and says “Dude tell me that guy didn’t just use wickedness in the “Bill & Ted” sense of the word!)
Oh yes (insert random guys name here), I did indeed. Wyld Stallyns Rule! *air guitar insues and George Carlin steps out of a phone booth that falls from the sky*`
    Ok back to sleep now.

  27. Heroes was great If anyone can help me get my hands on profit the series email me cuz I been reading about it and Petrelli Brothers are just great, heroes may change TV forever

  28. Can only add raves along with everyone, after I was totally frustrated with this show two or three episodes ago. They are really getting their act together for a good season finale, bringing everything together.

HRG (I finally figured out what that stand for) speaks pretty good Japanese, probably best in the show, and Takei does a good “bossy Japanese” thing, sounds like Ken Watanabe in anything or Sonny Chiba in Kill Bill — very boss.

I always think in Japanese when telepaths are around. Very useful –??????????????telepath???????????????Satisfied my theory that telepaths can’t read your thoughts if you speak a different language — because you think in the language you speak. I like little details like that. I think the radiation poisoning will soon be a forgotten thing — it was all about Claire being the Hero of the show. And yes, I did think of Wolverine-just blond and a cheerleader Wolverine. The “Ted effects” and the “Claire” SFX are quite good.

This show was so good It made me not care they dumped my favourite character, and correct me if I’m wrong -isn’t that girl in the lab in the last scene the girl from last episode with the Russian accent?

  29. BTW, maybe I missed it but where did wireless internet girl go to?
