‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series’ – S01E17 – “Blue Hope”

Green Lantern_The Animated Series_Blue Hope

Last week’s episode was the best of the series. It’ll be interesting to see where the series goes from here, quality-wise, and if we ever see Steam Lantern again.

Here’s how “Blue Hope” is described:

Hal, Kilowog, and Aya visit the Blue Lantern planet Odym to seek help in their battle against the Manhunters. Unfortunately, the power-boosting effect of the Blue Lanterns has an unexpected (and unwanted) side effect on their enemies…the Manhunters.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

  1. Loved this episode, when Bruce Timm has time to let a story grow and come into it’s own genius ensues. It was also nice hearing some philosophy from the Blue Lanterns, this episode got deep a few times. The fight scene towards the end was well done too. My only complaint is that they didn’t finish off the “Shang Hi Batman” shorts, I’ve seen them all online but still it’d be cool if they show one set of shorts in one Saturday instead of carry over stories week to week for cartoons 2 minutes long.

  2. I assume that there’s enough blue energy to power the two Blue Lantern rings on-planet without the battery, but the battery will be necessary for them to leave the planet and/or expand their Corps?

    • I was under the impression that Saint Walker’s and Warth’s rings could be recharged just by their “hope”, or it could be that blue rings take longer to drain energy than green or red. Plus they still have the smaller blue lantern power battery when Saint Walker was first recruited, so maybe they all share it? It will be awhile before that becomes an issue tho, the blue lantern corps initiation process takes longer than others.

  3. I think this may have been my favorite episode of the series thus far. The writing was top notch and I’m continually impressed with the subtleties in the animation.

  4. I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves this show. The visuals are just beautiful eye candy.
