‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series’ – S01E10 – “Regime Change”

I feel like The Guardians should be holding and smoking pipes.

Here’s how “Regime Change” is described:

Hal and the gang must return to the planet Betrassus to help Queen Iolande defend her world. Her brother Ragnar has received a red power ring and eagerly accepts it. Now, Hal, Kilowog and the rest of the crew must save Queen Iolande and Betrassus before Ragnar takes over the planet… or destroys it altogether.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

Comments

  1. This is a good cartoon

  2. I really liked this one, especially in how it featured the symbiosis between green/will and blue/hope energies. And it was great that they dedicated the episode to the late Ian Abercrombie, whose voice (as Ganthet) was so prominent here.

  3. This was a good episode, but I want to talk about the Animal Man short. Was that “Weird” Al Yankovic doing AM’s voice?

  4. Fantastic. Blows the movie out of the water.

  5. Love the whole “exile of Ganthet” thing. Great stuff there. And see Iolande was cool and it makes sense her brother would be a red lantern.

Was interested that the blue light of hope took away only Razer’s powers, but not the other red lanterns. Is it because he’s not full of rage anymore compared to the other guys? I know in the books the blue light can stop the burning of the red light and calm it, and I believe it can drain the yellow light as well, so can it do the same with the red?

Can’t wait to see the blue lantern version of Saint Walker in action!

  6. As soon as the blue lantern corps and other corps get established this show will become legendary. This episode was great though, Ganthet is as great as in the comics. Can’t wait for the rest of the season.

  7. To me it feels like this show is holding back. It’s less annoying than Ultimate Spider-Man, but I need something more.

  8. Conor, could iFanboy do an article on the state of comics-inspired animation? With rumors that Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will be cancelled after the current season, and DC investing a great deal into DC Nation, I think there would be something worth reporting on for you guys.

  9. I thought this was a lot of fun. Can’t wait for the Blue Lamp to find Saint Walker.

  10. I find it fascinating this cartoon has been advancing Johns’ story ideas at a pace that may soon revel future print-based story points as yet unrevealed.
