From the Chicago Sun-Times, your first look at Jason Patric as Detective Christian Walker in FX’s Powers pilot.
The article also includes a few tidbits from executive producer and writer Charles Eglee, who considers the series a genre mashup of Se7en and The Dark Knight.
“Though the pilot is based on Brian Michael Bendis’ “Powers” comics (winner of three of the comics industry’s Eisner Awards), Eglee says the show won’t be dependent on rendering stories already told in the book. In order to flesh out story lines, for example, the show could spend an entire season on a story arc that comprised as few as six issues of the graphic novel.”
Should the pilot warrant a series order, expect to see it on FX around June of 2012.

Se7en? Admittedly, I haven’t watched that movie in quite a while, or read the first few story arcs of Powers recently, but I don’t remember Walker or Pilgrim wondering about the contents of any boxes, horribly murdered prostitutes, great big fat people, or Kevin Spacey in those issues…
I really hope that this is good and it ends up airing, but I don’t think Jason Patric is big enough to be Christian Walker, but i still remain optimistic

I’ve always been meaning to read Powers and now that there is real movement on the show, I’m more motivated now. But I’ve been debating for a while whether did the definitive hardcover or trades. I heard the hardcovers make the art look better, but I also heard they’ve had printing/binding issues. Which is better to get?
(And they cost about the same price wise to get, so I know that’s not an issue)
