Coming Soon… ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer’!

Looks like they’ve renamed the Fantastic Four sequel.

I didn’t hate Fantastic Four as much as I thought I would — mostly because of The Thing and The Human Torch — and the idea of seeing The Silver Surfer on screen is very intriguing.

I just hope they can pull it off in a way that doesn’t have the general public laughing at the guy who travels the cosmos on a surf board.

If pulled off correctly, I think it would be undeniably cool to see Galactus on screen.

  1. Oh yeah, this is news.

The real question is when will we get good photos of Venom…

  2. Would you really want to see that much of Venom before you saw the movie?

I’d rather wait for the reveal in the movie, otherwise, I’m just spoiling what the director had in mind.

Since the first FF movie was so silly and lighthearted, I think it would be quite a stretch to think they’re going to be able to do something as heavy as the whole Silver Surfer thing. Furthermore, I’m not sure the gravitas of that is able to be done on screen very seriously in the “real world”.

  3. I agree about spoiling Venom. It should be cool to see on screen for the first time.

I am curious about how this movie is going to unfold, because I liked the fist film. But, Silver Surfer should be interesting.

  4. I’m sure this isn’t news to anyone other than myself, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that Doug Jones (Abe Sapien) is playing the Silver Surfer (at least that what imdb says). That seems like great casting to me. I know he’s been in a bunch of stuff, but I really only noticed him in Hellboy, and I like the idea of the Surfer with Abe Sapien’s mannerisms: very calm and soft spoken.

  5. Something tells me this is gonna end up having one of those cliffhanger endings. Its all the rage in hollywood

  6. If it had a cliffhanger, it would be great. What better homage to comic books than the cliffhanger ending? The whole movie could be about Silver Surfer as the herald. The FF fights and fights the Silver Dude. Then at the end of the movie, Galactus appears moving towards the Earth. Pop up “To be Continued next Summer!!”. It would end like a comic book. I do not know how everyone else feels about it, but I think that it would rock.

  7. I agree, that would rock. But do to the sometimes lack of creatively in Hollywood I dont see them coming up with something so cool or that the fans might like. Just how it is. But you never know.

On a different subject. Saw Snakes on a Plane last night.
Its everything is looks like its going to be. Fucking rocked. For a great super action movie, this is the one.

  8. I agree, that would rock. But do to the sometimes lack of creatively in Hollywood I dont see them coming up with something so cool or that the fans might like. Just how it is. But you never know.

Cliffhangers are not an unknown commidity in Hollywood. See the Back to the Future movies, The Empire Strikes Back and Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest, among many others.

  9. Yeah, but I remember all sorts of people bitching at the end of the first 2 LOTR movies, like: That was it?!?

  10. Now, I’m no navigations expert…but when you enter earth’s atmosphere and plunge down to inhabitable elevations, isn’t that more of a descent than a rise?

  11. If you come over the horizon, it appears to be a rise from the ground.

    I guess…

  12. So who do you contact to get a Marvel Studio’s No-Prize?

  13. I loved the first movie and Im ready for the sequal.

  14. Just came across this interesting tidbit:

Forest Whitaker and Dawson’s Creek alum Busy Philipps have signed on for multiepisode guest-starring roles in ER this fall.

Whitaker is set to star as a carpenter who checks into the hospital for a persistent cough only to suffer a stroke while waiting to be treated. Despite the valiant efforts of heartthrob doc Dr. Kovac (Goran Visnjic), the patient winds up paralyzed.

The Shield vet has been tapped to appear on the Must-See show for five episodes, kicking off Oct. 19–and carrying him through the end of November sweeps.

He replaces Andre Braugher, who bowed out of the part in order to take flex his green-screen chops in Fox’s superhero sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

  15. I love me some Busy Phillips

  16. Are we going to have a Silver Surfer with a deep voice and a giant ass?

(Did you see Thief? Huge ass on that guy!)

Also, “Would you like a stick of gum? Fresh pack…”

  17. Rumor has it that Braugher is playing either The Puppet Master or an army general.
