EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW: The Last of the Greats #1

We are very happy to bring you this massive preview of the first issue of The Last of the Greats, out from Image Comics on October 5. Written by Joshua Hale Fialkov (Echoes, I, Vampire, Superman/Batman), with art by Brent Peeples, this promises to be something special. When all the great superheroes were thought dead, there is still the last of them.

That title, it must also be said, is simply sublime, and I’m shocked we’ve never seen it.

Anyway, how about reading the bulk of the first issue? It’s yours, for free, only here.

Comments

  1. That’s an awesome concept. I may check this out.

  2. I really liked this, definitely going to pick it up.

  3. interesting concept. I might want to check this out. Does Image have a digital program yet? I seem to have heard something about that. The interior art is pretty cool…could be fun.

I really like that cover design. Very dynamic and interesting, more like a book than a comic

one thing guys..kern that type especially on the credits block. I know what you’re trying to do and you got it like 95% there. It looks sloppy.

  4. Thanks for the feedback guys!

There’s seven more pages waiting for you at your LCS in October and every month after!

    j.

  5. I’m not going to read the preview, I’ve already preordered and I’m really looking forward to it.

But I just wish ALL publishers will take note of one thing (the solicitation of LOTG was guilty of this as have been a lot of recent Marvel book). if you’re selling issue #1 for $3.99 (albeit oversized) yet following issues are going to be $2.99, make a deal out of it in the solicitation text. more people will initially preorder if they know they’re only paying the extra dollar for issue #1. $3.99 is still a barrier to a lot of people, it’s less of one if they know its a one off.

  6. Is there a way to enlarge the images. I can’t read that.

  7. Really nice! I want the last seven pages NOW!! …then the first six or so issues…

  8. This looks great. I really dig how much of an ass this guy is since, frankly, that’s EXACTLY how it would play out. “Oh, you killed my siblings? Now you want my help? Good luck with that.” EXCELLENT premise

  9. Well… looks like I’m adding another book to my pull list. Great preview. Great premise. Great art. I’m in.

  10. Love it so far, will pick it up for sure. Is this an ongoing or a mini/maxi?

  11. Yes! I’m so excited for this! This is easily one of my most anticipated series! I hope it lasts long. I would love another ongoing creator-owned superhero book.

  12. Well, I think I wanna read this, hesitantly. Yeah, it is good. Just feel weird that at times, that is how I feel about humanity, or at least, at a certain group of them. And I admit this as a Buddhist and biologist that studied human social evolution and practices compassion towards all living beings. But yeah, that is a fairly accurate, if generalized personification of a portion of humanity. Thumbs up writer guy!

  13. Best closing statement! I really want to see where this goes. The concept is very unique and awesome.

  14. whoa, looks epic.

  15. That sure is a lot of preview. I think I’d nab this off Comixology when its released.
