Can anyone remember one of these licensed comics being any good?

There’s going to be a Battlestar Galactica comic book series.

These kinds of things pop up from time to time I guess, but for some reason, they’re nearly always terrible. My fear is that the marketing people look at it as a surefire way to make money, and they don’t actually think comic buyers are that discerning about quality.

I remember I blindly bought a comic adaptation of The Shield and I still can’t get the stink off my hands. But I’ve learned my lesson. The Battlestar Galactica TV series is one of my favorite things, and I’ll let nothing sully that.

  1. the 24 prequel one-shot comic I got a few months back was pretty decent…

  2. I liked the Serenity book.

  3. I agree – the 24 adaption was pretty decent.

The CSI books were okay in the beginning but then they oversaturated the market.

  4. I think, not having been a Buffy fan, that the Joss Whedon penned ones were good. But that makes sense.

When you say “pretty decent” does that mean it was good, and you wanted more? Or that it just didn’t make you wretch?

  5. It was an enjoyable read. I didn’t love it, I didn’t hate it.

  6. To me a comic is only good if it makes you want more. Unless it’s “From Hell”, and I didn’t want any more of that. But it was still good.

  7. I’d buy another 24 comic…

  8. …I care….

  9. You know, I don’t think I’ve bought a comic or book based on a televisions series since ST:TNG.
