Behind the Scenes of the ASTONISHING X-MEN Motion Comic

2009 seems to have been the year of the motion comic, so any chance to go behind the scenes is a good opportunity to see just how these things are made.  The fine folks over at Marvel provided us with the following video which goes behind the scenes of the voice actors on the projects.  Put a face to the voice of Cyclops, Wolverine, Kitty and all the rest of the characters and get a better idea of how one prepares to voice a motion comic.  For any of you with dreams of voice over gigs, this is a must watch.

I only wish there were some scenes of Neal Adams yelling at the voice actors from the studio control room : "No, no, no.  Cyclops would say it THIS way…" and then he throws his coffee at a PA. *shrug*

Marvel provided some supporting comments on the video:

Get a behind the scenes look at the chart-topping Astonishing X-Men Motion Comic with this all new video! Based on the acclaimed story by superstars Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) and John Cassaday (Captain America), the X-Men are faced with a mysterious new villain and a possible cure for the mutant gene! Now Cyclops, Wolverine and all your favorite mutants must face the greatest threats of their lives and, before it’s all done, experience one of the most jaw-dropping moments in Marvel history!

Comments

  1. One of the actors are named DJ Tanner. Hahaha.

  2. look it’s Dan Green and Frank Frankson/ John Campbell under diffrent names.  It’s name that New York anime voice actor here.

  3. That choppy motion "action" scene with Wolverine fighting the troops left me with no doubt; this is not for me.

The voices do seem SPOT one and by the way Mrs. Conelly(Agent Brand) you’re HAWT

  4. The motion in these comics reminds me of the old popup books where you pull a tab and the characters head sways back and forth.
