Comments

  1. Small week for me. Only 4 books

    BOYS #2
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS #2 (OF 4)
    ULTIMATE X-MEN ANNUAL #2
    ULTIMATE FANTASTICE FOUR #33

  2. I just want to point out the last book on my list that I think will be a lot of fun:

CSI: Dying in the Gutters #1

Written by Steven Grant, art by Stephen Mooney.

Presenting an all-new storyline set firmly in the world of comic books, sure to appeal to comic book fans and CSI fans alike! Grissom and his CSIs take in a Las Vegas comic convention that ends in tragedy: the death of online gossip columnist Rich Johnston. The suspects are many among them Marvel Comics EIC Joe Quesada, Ed Brubaker, Marc Silvestri, Robert Kirkman, Ben Templesmith, Peter David, Greg Rucka and many other well-known comic creators! Can the CSIs solve the crime before “dead is dead” becomes commonplace at the con?

  3. what no cable/deadpool? tHE BOOK is concistently good you should get it instead of CSI

  4. Cable/Deadpool is not for me. Ron loves it, though.

  5. Two books for me this week:

Green Lantern #13 (is this even coming out this week?)
    X-Factor #10

This will be a nice small week to prepare me for the mondo explosion of comics next week.

  6. 52 Week #17
    All Star Superman #5
    American Virgin #6
    Boys #2
    Justice #7
    Loveless #10
    Trials Of SHAZAM #1
Uncle Sam And The Freedom Fighters #2
    Fallen Angel Vol 2 #8
Civil War Young Avengers & Runaways #2
Jack Kirbys Galactic Bounty Hunters #2
    Ultimate Fantastic Four #33
    Ultimate X-Men Annual #2
    X-Factor #10
Rex Mundi Vol 3 Lost Kings TP
    X Isle #2
    Battlestar Galactica #1
Savage Red Sonja Queen Of The Frozen Wastes #1

Aargh! 17 floppies and 1 TPB this week. Too many books. Looking forward to Battlestar Galactica, All-Star Superman and X-Isle the most. I am curious about Shazam and am hoping it turns out to be good. The first issue of Uncle Sam was mediocre in my opinion, but that could be because Uncle Sam didn’t show up until the last page. Hopefully it improves or I will be dropping it. The first issue of Jack Kirby’s Galactic Bounty Hunters was incredibly boring in my opinion, but unfortunately I had already preordered issue #2. One of the drawbacks of mail order.

The book to take a look at is Rex Mundi. Not a superhero book though so it may not be for everyone. It is a mystery/conspiracy story involving the Catholic Church and secret societies. Kind of like the Da Vinci Code but, you know, actually good. They just started a new series at Dark Horse – issue #1 came out last week. The previous 18 issues are in TPB and can be found easily.

  7. I like Rex Mundi. I have the first trade and I’ll probably pick up the next two.

Not as much fun as The DaVinci Code or Holy Blood, Holy Grail, but I enjoy it. 🙂

  8. 52 Week #17
    All Star Superman #5
    American Virgin #6
    Teen Titans #38
    Trials Of SHAZAM #1
    X-Factor #10
    Boys #2

7 books an average week for me.

  9. AMERICAN WAY #7
SUPERMAN BATMAN #29 (I think of dropping this now that Jeff Loeb is gone and replacing it with Busiek’s Superman)
CABLE DEADPOOL #31 (anything and everything Civil War)
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS & RUNAWAYS (same as above, but I think this is going to be the better read)
X-FACTOR #10 (I am giving this title another shot. I really like Peter David’s stories and the CW crossovers were decent)

GREEN LANTERN GREATEST STORIES EVER TOLD TP (I probably won’t get it this week, but it is an impressive title)

  10. 52 #17
    Action Comics #842
    All Star Superman #5
    Boys #2
Ultimate Fantastic Four #33 (i was gonna drop this after Millar left but i’ve really enjoyed Carey’s X-men, even more than Brubakers)
    Ultimate X-Men Annual #2
    X-Men #190

I also wanna look up the first two issues of Wasteland. Is anybody reading this? Is it good?

  11. 52 WEEK #17
    ACTION COMICS #842
    ALL STAR SUPERMAN #5
    AMERICAN VIRGIN #6
    BOYS #2
    JUSTICE #7

    SHE-HULK 2 #11
    ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR #33
    ULTIMATE X-MEN ANNUAL #2
    X-FACTOR #10
    X-MEN #190

I have to pick up my books from last wekk, too. Oh, how my wallet will bleed…

Looking forward to Mythos Hulk. I loved the X-Men one; beautiful, beautiful art.

  12. I read some of the first issue of Wasteland, and it didn’t really grab me, for whatever reason, but there are a lot of people out there who like it a lot. Antony Johnston is a nice guy too, and I like the artist as well. If it sounds like something you’re into (post-apocalyptic wasteland), you’ll probably dig it.

  13. I have read the first 2 issues of Wasteland and I really like it so far. The story is intriguing with some interesting characters. The mythology that Johnston is building is very interesting too. There are some mysteries already that are keeping me guessing from month to month. The art is very different but it is growing on me. The book’s website is:

    http://www.onipress.com/thebigwet/

You can view the first half of issue #1 on the site as well as learn more about the story. There is an interview with Johnston about the book on another podcast (I won’t mention the name but it is based in Texas…) this week which I haven’t listened to yet but plan to soon.

  14. It’s Fanboy Radio isn’t it?!

    😉

  15. SHE-HULK #11
    X-FACTOR #10
    X-MEN #190
CIVIL WAR YOUNG AVENGERS RUNAWAYS STILLS NASH & YOUNG IN UNWIELDY TITLE LAND #2
    maaybe CABLE DEADPOOL #31
maaaaybe MYTHOS HULK, though my enthusiasm wanes more each time I think about it; how many more times am I gonna buy this story?

I’m amazed at how much lighter my haul is than everyone else’s this week.

  16. All the book for this week

see both my girlfriend & my sister thank me for getting them interested in comics

  17. i listened to that interview and its what got me interested. thanks for the preview link, i’ll make sure to check this out at the shop next time i go.

  18. Since I’ve got the POW, I guess you’d like to know what I’ll be picking from. Not a huge week.

    52 WEEK #17
    BOYS #2
    TRIALS OF SHAZAM #1
    X-FACTOR #10
    X-MEN #190

  19. Light week for me and that’s a good thing considering I picked up about 12 books last week.
    Im picking up
    MYTHOS HULK
X-Factor-I loved the last issue and CW reallly got me into this team. May continue reading after CW
    Xmen 190
and the weekly 52 pick up

  20. Crap, I forgot Battlestar Galactica.

  21. A lot of people online and hanging around the comic shop publicly turn up their noses at mega-crossover events, yet my comic shop (which opens at 11:00) was entirely sold out of both “Cable/Deadpool” and “Young Avengers/Runaways” when I got there at 11:20. The manager sounded like he’d just survived a tornado.

  22. I think this particular crossover season is breaking the molds for what people expect from crossovers.

  23. GREMLINS HC (if my store honors my previews order)
    52 WEEK #17 $2.50
    ACTION COMICS #842
ALL STAR SUPERMAN #5 (really looking forward to this)
    JUSTICE #7
    LOVELESS #10*
    TRIALS OF SHAZAM #1*
UNCLE SAM AND THE FREEDOM FIGHTERS #2*
MYTHOS HULK* (I’m a sucker for the painted books)
    ULTIMATE FANTASTIC FOUR #33
    ULTIMATE X-MEN ANNUAL #2
And probably a copy of Wizard…

*If my store, with their increasingly piss-poor selection, has any copies of these this week. I’m really looking forward to the Shazam book, especially after reading Kingdom Come a while back.

  24. When you read X-Men 190, see if you can get through the Sabertooth scene without thinking, “Oh, kiss him. Kiss him!”

  25. The Trials of Shazam!
    52 – Week Seventeen
    X-Factor
    Ultimate Fantastic Four
    Batman: Journey into Knight
    All Star Superman
    Teen Titans
