A Teaser Trailer and Two Posters for THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN!

A Belgian double-header for your Tuesday morning. We've got two takes–one domestic, one international–on the upcoming film The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

Here's a look, courtesy of Empire online. I think I prefer the sunnier, more sprawling take of the international poster to the left. The yellow seaplane does a lot to capture the vibrant, adventurous tone of Herge's originals. Though I think artist Dan Hipp's done a little better at capturing the feel of classic Tintin album covers in his recent mashups

Let's not talk about the Zemeckiscope animation for the moment. Let's focus on the fact that Doctor Who and Sherlock writer Steven Moffat collaborated on the script with Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish. Let's talk about Steven Spielberg teaming up with Peter Jackson to produce a trilogy of these things. With a John Williams score. Tintin's getting his due in a way that I never could have expected as an eight-year-old browsing the spinner racks in Rizzoli's.

UPDATE: Talk about burying the lead. Here's a full-on teaser trailer!

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn combines elements from The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn, and Red Rackham's Treasure (the name of my group in Rock Band). It stars Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Daniel Craig. The 3D film opens stateside in December.

  3. Wow.  This looks pretty exciting.

  4. THIS is my most anticipated comic book movie of the year.

  5. Somehow, this got below my movie radar. But now that I’m seeing even a glimpse of it, I’m super psyched! I loved the Tintin books as a kid… and my daughter grew up loving them as well. So this will be a Dad/daughter must-see for us!

  6. so excited…bringing me back to High School French Class with all this French/Belgian comics fun!

i really like the Left Hand poster. The imagery does feel a little lighter and “adventure-y”

  7. I must have missed when they announced this was going to be a motion capture animated movie.  I kind of wish if they’re going for animate it to stylize it more to Herge’s look but regardless, this looks fun.

  8. It was the best of times is was the blurst of times.

  9. Polar Express 2

  10. Ugh! Damn teaser! Always cutting away from the faces right up until the last second! I seriously can’t wait for this.

  11. yeah… i love the idea but the animation looks a bit shit

  12. Cool! 😀

  13. looks fun to me

  14. I’m geeking out over this. Lots of heavy hitters on this one.

  15. That trailer did its job.

  16. Absolutely my first experience with comics was in my grade school library reading every single one of TinTin’s adventures. I ate all of them up and I do believe I’ll do the same now.
