WEBCOMIC: Mike Norton Unleashes BATTLEPUG!

Somewhere in Hell, Robert E. Howard and Frank Frazetta are racked with laughter.

Today sees the launch of artist Mike Norton's new webcomic Battlepug. You may recall the name from our very first Creator Original T-shirt from Fall 2009. Mike was nice enough to create that design for us, and the sight of it still makes us giggle. It's a deleted scene from Heavy Metal you never knew you wanted, but now desperately, desperately need.

We knew Battlepug might end up airbrushed on the sides of vans throughout America or inspire a half dozen garage bands, but to see him star in his own webcomic saga is a really special treat. And so far, Mike has pulled out all the stops. Here's a landscape from the first page

Some terrific detail there. And the full page is just stunning, evidence that this webcomic is no mere side-project. Mike and colorist Allen Passalaqua mean business.

From what we know so far, Battlepug is the sword and sandal saga of a valiant…battle pug…as told by a beautiful naked lady named Moll to two palace pugs named Colfax and Mingo. And it is badass.
