‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ – S01E12 – “Me Time”

Everyone needs it sometimes.

Here’s how “Me Time” is described:

Spider-Man insists on a much‐needed day off from Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D., but before he can enjoy some rest and relaxation, Doctor Octopus seizes the opportunity to strike.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

  1. This was my first episode of the show and I was very disappointed. I know this is ” not written for adults ” but that is no excuse for such a terrible TV show. Super Hero Squad and Teen Titains were both shows that aimed for a younger audience but they were at least entertaining. This is like watching bad late 80’s, early 90’s cartoons. The worst part about this is all the talented people who’s work is usually very entertaining involved in this. Or maybe the worst part is all the Zach Morris 4th wall breaking. At least the animation is decent.

  2. I still don’t get the hatred for USM when compared to Teen Titans. To me, in my opinion their senses of humor are very similar. I think what happens is two things. One, people really miss Spectacular Spider-man. Which was great. And two, it’s “quality” is compared to Avengers EMH. Which is a shame. Because to me, USM is fun.

  3. All I know is my kids freakin love this show. They are in laughing hysterically during this show.

Here’s one of the reasons this cartoon rubs me the wrong way: Spidey rides a motorcycle. So swinging on web-lines through the canyons of Manhattan like an urban Tarzan and executing precision circus acrobatic gymnastic moves just isn’t exciting enough anymore? It’s dumb to replace, for even one moment, Spidey’s signature activity. Sure motorcycles are ‘cool’ and I guess they think kids will relate to it. I think it’s trying too hard to fix something that was never broke, though.

  5. The motorcycle is there for one reason, and one reason only….They can make a toy of it.

Now you can look at it as a money grab sullying the waters of “story”, but c’mon…as a kid, I had Spider-Man hotwheels (spider mobile, spider copter), and I freakin loved em…Batman can swing all over the city too, but the batmobile is freakin cool, and who wouldn’t want a toy of it?

    I’m fine with it…

  6. I think the big difference between this and Teen Titans is the number of times the fourth wall is broken. USM does it multiple times each and every episode while TT used it sparingly. I do like the chibi-style animation in doses.

If you want to enjoy this show, watch it with kids and quit being cranky when the show breaks COMIC continuity. Or else pray that Mysterio tricks Spidey into driving the Spider-cycle off a pier.

I’ll keep watching…. till the show’s Iron Fist stops smoking weed…..
