‘The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes!’ – S02E06 – “Michael Korvac”

I’m guessing that this is going to be a fan favorite episode.

Here’s how “Michael Korvac” is described:

The Avengers attempt to protect a mysterious man named Korvac from strange aliens that pursue him, but they soon realize that these aliens are the heroic Guardians of the Galaxy and that it is not Korvac who needs protection, but the Earth itself.

I look forward to your thoughts, opinions, gripes, live-blogging, etc.

  1. GROOT!

  2. I’m looking forward to seeing how much they use from the Korvac Saga. This will be great!

  3. man i really need to catch up on this show. I saw the first half of the first season and loved it.

  4. After last weeks near perfect Luke Cage and Iron Fist, I can’t wait to see what they do with Star Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

  5. I just read one of the worst rumor about this show:

    http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/marveltv/news/?a=58063

This may be the greatest Marvel animated series ever made… So let’s cancel it?

    • Business-wise it makes sense to use in-house production than outsourcing to other another studio. It breaks my heart to hear EMH being cancelled, the show is on the top of my priority list of things to watch each week.

    • IF this is true than it shows again, that loeb is more and more going into a direction i personally dislike very much. i was a big fan of the ultimate universe, which loeb almost ruined with ultimatum and now he ruins (at least for me) this great show?

one of the things that i love is precisely the fact that there is a build up of big events over several episodes (that’s also what was great about jlu). i think that is what makes it feel so much like the comics. self contained episodes are nice, but nothing that keeps me interested over a long time.

the show is probably to aim at young kids (although i guess even those can appreciate longer stories) but it would still be sad.

    • Eh, this has happened so many times to shows I love that I can’t even get angry anymore. No point. I’ll just be happy that I got two seasons of awesomness, including an episode with the FRIGGIN’ GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY! STAR LORD 4 LYFE!

    • Yeah, I’ve heard that this is happening from people who would know.

It makes sense for the reasons undino describes. Marvel wants to assert full control over their media properties. Sure, it sucks that we’ll only get two seasons, but that’s the cartoon business.

    • Gah! First they take away Spectacular Spider-man, and now this!

    • Ah, man….that sucks. *sigh*

    • They’ll just replace it with another Marvel show. Just like Spactaculer Spider man and Ultimate Spider man

    • Yeah, from what I’ve been told–and I have no reason to believe this information to be incorrect–they are going to replace it with another Avengers cartoon.

    • If they do cancel EMH I’d rather they replace It with an X-MEN cartoon because I don’t get G4 and can’t watch the anime.

    • They’ll probably make one more in tune with either [1] the movie or [2] the USM cartoon.

    • That’s terrible news.

    • JEPH LOEB! YOU RUIN EVERYTHING!

    • Awww fuck. That sucks. I love this show, and it’s season long storytelling is part of what makes it so great. How can Loeb not understand that serialized storytelling it part of what makes great comic based properties?

Until Pixar makes “The Marvel Universe Hour” every Sunday, I want EMH on the air.

  6. I know very little of the comic aspect of the Marvel Universe. Never read Annhilation or its sequels (though now am tempted too) and have never read the Korvac Saga. Hopefully I’ll still have some fun with this episode, since I assume they’re also going to explain some stuff for non-cosmic Marvel guys like myself.

  7. I loved Korvac from Avengers Academy. Its ironic that the Avengers themselves couldn’t defeat Korvac but a six teenagers and Korvac’s ex-girlfriend could.

  8. I got my 2 year old daughter to stop in her tracks, saying,”do you want to see a raccoon fight the hulk?”

  9. I love Guardians of The Galaxy, looks like Phyla-Vell, a great character from they’re more recent DNA run that ran parallel with Nova and both culminated with climax and ended in Thanos Imperative. One of my favorite minis in recent yrs and was made that much better by Nova and the Guardians runs, along with Thanos Imperative all being helmed by DNA.

  10. I am so disappointed that they’re going to cancel this show. Right now my weekend mornings with my son are fantastic, with the great shows Young Justice and Avengers, followed by the weaker Green Lantern and Spider-Man shows.

I hope that the Avengers shows they create are at the same maturity level as the current Avengers. A bit more mature than Spider-Man but not trending as old as Young Justice (“Super Boy has anger management issues, that is not the proper way to behave”).

I just hope the new Batman series isn’t another “The Batman” debacle.

  11. This is good and just when I was really getting into being an Avengers fan they are going to take it away.

  12. I thought this was a pretty cool episode. I definitely enjoyed seeing the Guardians for the first time (never read a book with them in it). Rocket was pretty awesome. A badass raccoon who wields two giant guns? I’m in.

I’m still kind of confused on Korvac since I never read any stories with him. My thoughts originally were that he could alter reality to his whim or something. He’s still portrayed as super powerful here though and (if the Avengers get a 3rd season by some miracle) I’d love to seem him back all unhinged and whatnot.

Still waiting to see the awesomeness that is Thor return so we can see him vs. Surtur!
