Spotlight: Dreamkeepers

Sweet dreams are made of this.

Fans of the furry freedom fighters in Sonic the Hedgehog will likely thrill to the swashbuckling adventures of the DreamKeepers, a lush and colorful adventure series from David Lillie, Liz Thomas and Brad Higginbotham. The animal inhabitants of Anduruna in the Dream World are our whimsical REM avatars. Imbued with fantastic powers outlawed by the state, the DreamKeepers are the last line of defense against the encroaching terrors of the nightmare Void. But a few shock troops and city ordinances won’t get in the way of a little mischief and mayhem, especially when the Dream World is inhabited by so many strange and exciting characters. If it sounds like kid stuff, discard that notion straight off. While the series is fun and vibrant with wide-eyed and cuddly-looking creatures, the conflict is dire and hard-hitting right from the start. The story opens with a brutal sacrifice, and the baddies and bullies don’t pull any punches.

That's one way to play Angry Birds.

Linked to the webcomic “Prelude,” two full-length DreamKeepers graphic novels are now available on Graphicly. The first 93 page collection “Awakenings” is free, though a $6.00 Special Edition comes loaded with bonus content including audio creator commentary and alternate scenes. The second volume, “Flight to Starfall”  is available for just $2.00 for the Regular Edition or $6.00 for the Special Edition.

  1. Completely off-topic, but these Graphic.ly previews annoy the hell out of me. At BEST, you usually get 1 or 2 pages of interior art. (Here, there is none at all.) And that’s not enough to sell me on something I’ve never heard of. Do the 4-5 page interior preview, please. It DOES sell books.
