Maxwell Takes on Darkseid in SCRIBBLENAUTS UNMASKED: A DC COMICS ADVENTURE this Fall

This Fall, the full DC lexicon is at your disposal with Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure on the Nintendo Wii-U, 3DS and PC. The latest installment in the beloved Scribblenauts series allows players to summon heroes, villains and objects from their favorite DC Comics to solve puzzles and traverse perilous battlefields.

If you’ve yet to play a Scribblenauts title, it goes like this. As spritely Maxwell or his sister Lily, you’re tasked with solving a series of problems, some as simple as retrieving a kite from a tree, others far more intricate. Fortunately, you have at your disposal a magic sketchbook capable of manifesting just about anything to help arrive at the solution. Write “axe” and an axe will appear so you might chop down the tree and reclaim your kite. Then again, you could try a “grappling hook” or “ladder” or even a “black hole,” though that last one will likely prove overkill. Summon gods, mythical creatures, dinosaurs, even a hockey stick. Come to think of it, Maxwell and Lily might make perfect Green Lantern candidates.

Now imagine summoning one of 33 different iterations of Batman or even more Green Lanterns. Imagine summoning Doomsday or Darkseid. Imagine summoning Mogo. Over 2,000 heroes and villains join the already unfathomable catalog of Scribblenauts items.

Let’s take a look at the trailer.

Snart! They’ve got Snart!

  1. Why does this game give you the breadth of characters that it does but Injustice can’t expand into fan favorites. I know many people will say that it’s because of the development required for the different characters but I’m not sure if that is accurate.

    • Well for the DLC we’re getting Batgirl , Martian Manhunter, and others whose names I’ve forgotten. Who counts as a fan exactly?

  2. So you really get to ask yourself: what would Batman do?

  3. If I can summon Ambush Bug, I will buy a 3DS just to play this game

Man, that first screen grab up there has some deep cuts, like Stanley and His Monster’s Monster and Copper from the Metal Men. It blows my mind that they’re both there.

  5. I see Red Son Batman! I read some crap about how the artist owned the rights to his design or something and that’s why he wasn’t in Injustice and we got Solomon Grundy instead, who wasn’t even in the story. But I see him and now want him (and Red Son GL) for Injustice.

  6. Wow, they are using Morrison’s Cave-Batman and Pirate Batman. I may need to buy a WiiU.

Wait a minute! I already own a Wii-U! We tend to forget. It’s the only way to cope.

  8. I never heard of Scribblenauts so I almost missed this!

This sounds so cool, I am definitely picking this up! Luckily I have a WiiU 🙂

  9. First thing I’m gonna write? “Red shorts.” Then give them to Superman. Then win the game.

    • You’re as bad as the people who think Wonder Woman should never be allowed to wear pants!

I think all superheroes should wear different costumes for different occasions, using a similar theme. It would be more fun for me that way.

But wearing underpants as overpants is a pretty brutal look in this day and age.

  10. FINALLY! The Detective Chimp game I’ve always wanted!
