June 25, 2013 12:18 pm I planned to be cooler than this When I was young I would tell myself that I was the shit And I would pump the bass in my '88 Mercedes Crazy, thinking that this would impress the ladies But maybe, I was just a dick with a loud car And now I'm taking sips at a loud bar Wishing that they'd turn the music down, gah I planned to be smarter than this When I was young I would tell myself that I was the shit And I would buy books just for looks I would get 'em Set 'em on my shelf so it would look like I had read 'em But let 'em pile up, barely even touch 'em And now the internet's sayin' Fuck 'em So I ain't even gonna bother trying to dust 'em I planned to be nicer than this When I was young I would tell myself that I was the shit And I could be a pretty huge dick when I wanted So my communication skills got stunted Now when I'm confronted By a nice person All I feel are nerves and my anxiety will worsen and I'm looking for the exit, All I want is a diversion I planned to be richer than this When I was young I would tell myself that I was the shit And I would watch TV, make-believing I was famous Head up in the clouds, dream a dream like I's in Les Mis The thing is, my money's piling up but it's all debt I opened up my savings and it's all red Well, what about your dreams? I put 'em all to bed
July 27, 2012 12:41 pm I dropped off after the name change....Is that really how Man Thing is talking now? Please say no.
July 3, 2012 1:13 pm I recently decided to cut down my books to 10 per month from around 40 per month and the overwhelming majority of those cuts were DC/Marvel books. It's not that those characters don't interest me anymore...it's just that there's these other books (like Saga) that seem so much more significant when I read them and in comparison, my regular superhero books feel so redundant and irrelevant. I'm craving new/big ideas right now and when I do want a regular superhero story, I feel like there are books like Invincible which do it better anyway. FWIW, these are 10 books I chose: Batman Batman Inc Walking Dead Invincible Saga Rachel Rising Chew Glory Manhattan Projects Danger Club
April 19, 2012 12:55 pm Great article! There's a really interesting discussion going on about this at the 11 O'Clock Comics forum that's worth checking out. Guy paid $200 for a Dennis Calero commission and is dealing with his extreme distaste for the final product (not surprising when you see it). http://bullpenbulletinspodcast.com/forum/index.php?topic=15174.0
March 15, 2012 1:02 pm I've been wondering that too...After reading this, I tried to go find Betrayal and it wasn't on digital either.
March 14, 2012 11:32 pm Saga was the main reason I went to the comic shop today and while it was definitely worth the wait, the fact that Exile came out of nowhere and made me interested in a property with which I had no prior experience made it my pick.
March 14, 2012 8:25 pm Got this without having ever read an Ape book or seeing an ape movie....This was awesome. There was so much story and character building in this first issue and I really enjoyed the art. It felt like a great jumping on point, but now I have to go hunt down the Betrayal mini to see how they are connected...Definitely my pick of the week.
January 26, 2012 8:18 pm I just finished the Alan Moore run for the first time and really enjoyed it. The Gotham arc from Book 5 was my favorite (Gotham being covered in plants and turning into a hippie oasis was awesome) and "The Anatomy Lesson" might be my favorite single issue I've ever read.
January 18, 2012 2:40 pm I just picked it up for $69 from DCBS using the 11 o'clock comics discount code (EOC8)...Can't wait to read these again.
December 7, 2011 6:25 pm The MP design reminds me a lot of The Filth covers...
