November 7, 2011 12:17 pm @conor The problem is that the situation doesn't make logical sense. Dale tells T-Dawg to not drink the water, which presumes it's already contaminated. As such... what at all is the point of taking out the Zombie? Other than adding shock value to the episode, in that "whoops we tore someone in half." It's stupid. They're acting like morons because the writers are filling spaces in the scripts that nees to be filled, and there's clearly a "One Zombie per Episode quota." Tension would be better built by having the zombies disappear for a few episodes. This just felt like it was handled terribly.
November 3, 2011 9:42 pm You seem to be operating under the mistaken impression I was at all serious.
November 3, 2011 9:27 pm I imagine Fear Itself 7.3 will be a conversation between Black Widow and Nick Fury going like this: BW: "Hey, remember that time you had the brilliant idea to get Steve back to being Cap' by making him believe his formerly dead partner is dead again, so that he could lead us into victory against the Serpent?" Fury: "... Yeah..." BW: "And remember when it turned out Steve's a big coward who told everyone to runaway with their tails between their legs and kiss their Devil-Saved Aunts goodbye?" Fury: "Yeah.... and how do you even know that last part?" BW: "And remember when Steve needed Tony Stark to come hand him ill-explained special weapons to save the day? Did James need any of that?" Fury: "What of it? It worked di--" BW: "You're a #()#)*@)* dumb ass."
October 31, 2011 12:35 pm By the same extension, Marvel is quicker on the trigger in killing books which produces higher turnover of creative teams. There's aboslutely no logical reason there should have been two Moon Knight #1s within a year and a half of each other.
October 31, 2011 12:33 pm I think Marvel saw flagging sales and decided to rejuvenate some titles. However, that said, The X-Men is a division-wide reboot, clearly meant to draw attention. But I have to say, I don't see the point of doing a stealth reboot when there's no attention being given to anything outside Miles Morales. Also... what was your issue with WW#1? I was under the impression that outside of having a basic knowledge of the big names in Greek Mythology none of the things going on in that issue had anything to do with what's come before.
October 19, 2011 7:47 pm I enjoyed that most of the other Marvel books seem to have already told readers "This doesn't do anything major, so we'll just get on with the 616 and let the misery train roll into the station."
October 19, 2011 7:46 pm Cap's shield got broken in issue 4.
October 19, 2011 7:46 pm It's got a 2.6. But it's pretty bad. Avoid it. Pretty much all my customers are telling me the same thing, guys. Avoid this crap like's it's plague.
October 19, 2011 7:44 pm Yeesh. What a steaming pile. I heard from another retailer/buddy that the topic of Fear Itself was avoided at Marvel's NYCC panels. Could it be they're embarrassed of the almost universal critical failure of this book?
September 13, 2011 12:49 pm I see a lot of comments saying "Well, it still sells well" validating the book and tie-ins. One thing about the Diamond numbers is that they only represent books that are sold to retailers. They do not represent the amount of books stores sell. At least two other stores I talked to have said they only sold through half of their orders on issues 4 and 5 and there wasn't enough time to revise their FOCs before ordering 6. The book has been a critical failure, the only word of mouth for this in my shop is how bad it is, and the amount being bought is diminishing each month. Sadly... there's nothing left to do with these books. The promise of the ads and sales of Issue 1 failed for readers and we're stuck with pre-ordered books no one cares about. But the wholesale level sales will be used as the justification for further summer events. In contrast, I barely heard a negative peep about Flashpoint. Though, I didn't hear anything positive either. And I've only been stuck with a relatively few unsold copies of the issues of the main series and was able to better manage the miniseries so that I only about 1/4 of them have any issues on my shelf whatsoever.
