September 30, 2011 3:59 am Gotta admit that Games was a big disappointment for me. After all the hype and positive previews, I was expecting a classic, nostalgic throwback to the 1980s. It didn't happen. As stated, the story was surprising run-of-the-mill and the plot twist was so damn clichéd it was embarrassing that Marv and George went that route. But I think the thing that really surprised me was George's artwork. Granted, a lot of artists alter their style over the years, but this is not George's best stuff. For a man recognized for his insane attention to cram in detail, it was a bit weird to see so many panels with no backgrounds. In a perfect world, it would've been great if George had ample time to pencil AND ink the book; but here, it looked like he was just trying to get the book out after having it drag on due to delays. Too bad as we all know what he's capable of. I'm pretty sure this is Marv and George's swan song, but it'd be great if they took another kick at the can because Games was a bit of a letdown.
