April 26, 2012 9:32 pm Like every time Grant Morrison does this kinda interview, everyone going to take everything he says wayyyyyy too seriously. All of it reads like he' just shooting the s!*t, throwing out his impressions.
September 13, 2011 7:43 pm Yea i don't feel bad or miss the comic book store at all. Sadly, the man I bought comics from my whole life died a year ago. After I didn't have his companionship to look forward to anymore, I was astounded by how much the process of buying comics felt like a trap and a hassle. Especially for those of us that don't live in big cities. The store getting shorted on comics and not receiving one that I buy every month, especially ones where I am one of few or the single puller. Then there's the subtle expectation that one you start pulling a book they think you're just gonna keep reading it forever. Not their fault, but the direct markets. Everyone comic I buy is essentially a suggestion for them to order more of the next issue, but if i don't like and want to cancel? Cancelling pulls is always incredibly awkward. No, I feel no guilt at all. Digital comics is what i want it to be yet, but its good enough and i'm thrilled with it.
September 12, 2011 1:53 pm I guess so, but I don't understand the trepidation about reading comics off a comptuer though. Its a concern I've seen reiterated a lot. People will sit in front of their computer for hours reading or watching anything else they come across on the internet, but a comic suddenly makes the practice arduous? Myself, since the release of Justice League #1 I've used my ipod to read comics.I haven't even bother to go to the comic store. Don't expect i will again, I guess.
September 12, 2011 12:17 pm "While digital download numbers haven’t been released, and I wouldn’t hold my breath, they’re crowing that the DC Comics App peaked at #4 on the top grossing iPad apps last week." Not sure how to put that into context? How much do the top iPad/iPod apps usually gross? Its worth remembering that people can also buy the DC comics through the comixology app, rather than the dedicated DC app. Personally, I switched to the comixoloxy one because the DC one was making my ipod run like crap. Also, the DC app wouldn't load the full catalog of day & date comics on its listings. Swamp Thing just wasn't there. I found it in the comixology app, though.
September 4, 2011 4:41 pm I haven't enjoyed a Justice League book this much since Metzler was writing it. The was a riot, had me laughing and grinning every other page. And I particularly couldn't contain myself during the 'Ford' 'Mumford' football game, the two teams obviously high school stand ins for Michigan and Michigan State--and even a recruiter with a suspiciously blocky-looking 'S' on his cap! Haha, wonderful Johns, wonderful.
June 2, 2011 8:05 pm I think I'm making the swtich to digital, goin to buy and old iPad1 and everything. Though I can't find if DC has mentioned yet: will this digital comics initiative still be handled by comixology?

Well, they didn't actually make the waveform look like text. Those are spectrals, not the wave. They recorded some weird chanting, and then filtered some frequences to make the spectrals look like text. I just find the logistics of the process confusing. You'd have to filter out different frequencies sample by sample. The wouldnt be easy in any audio tools I know of, it must be some kinda of audio-watermarking application.

I mean I know tools exists to filter audio frequencies, but that seems like a really complicated filtered process!

May 20, 2011 3:06 pm Haha thats pretty great, but I too want to know how they manipulated the audio spectrals like that. Whatever application exists to do so, I want to play with it. :)
March 17, 2011 8:09 pm Now, I love Nathan Fillion, but I think most people are a bit overzealous in imagining him to be the perfect live action Hal Jordan. Or whatever male superhero happens to be in casting in a given month.
