I was familiar with Valkyrie going into this, but not Misty Knight, and man, they both kick some serious ass! The issue starts out by highlighting the contrasts between Val and Misty, and it does so very effectively. The story is incredibly simple, but it reeled me in and the chemistry between all the characters is good, and I want to know more. The awesomest part by far was the Valkyrie/Dr. Riggs kiss! I feel I should say here that I am a non-straight female and I didn't find it fanservicey at all. I really liked how matter-of-fact it was dealt with. And Val just rolls with it, too, in typical badass Asgardian warrior fashion. My only complaint with this issue was with the some of the art -- there were some cheesecakey poses where they had to show the boobs and butt at the same time, especially with Misty, when she is supposed to be fighting and it just seems really unnatural. All in all, though, I'm really excited for the next issue!
