Like many other fanboys, I always wondered why in a world full of supermen and spontaneous resurections is Barbara Gordon still in the wheel chair. You figure after Bruce was cured and regained the Batman idenity than why can’t Barbara. The answer is in Oracle the Cure, where we find out that Oracle is way better than Batgirl.

In this book, we see that Oracle is still a hero when she goes off on her own to find the mssing pieces of the anti-life equation and do battle with a person that may be just as smart as her, the Calculator. The writer Kevin VanHook reminds us that even without the use of her legs she still a strongly capable person. Shes still a good fighter, a brilliant technician, a ocd work ethic and thanks to the artist Don Kramer she seems to have the Bat-family scowl. Plus, since she became Oracle she seems to be more focused and ruthless in her crime fighting. Also, Kramers art is beautifull and the colorist fits perfectly with the theme of the book.

In the end, this book proves that you can take the bat-cowl off the person, but you cant take the bat-cowl out of them. A

  1. I’m mixed. Hated the "Virtual World" stuff. Its so corny! The Video game Calculator monster was not a very good idea. But the real world parts are intriguing enough to get me to buy the next issue.

  2. P.S.   I agree… Barbara is one of comic’s most interesting/engaging characters.

  3. The Calculator? That’s a really bad villain name.

  4. @chlop The Pocket Protector would have been better.

I have to say, this story line reminds me of a bad Matrix movie .. basically #2 & #3. But the art is good and the cover art is amazing. 😀

  5. @chlop I like it better thaqn the third man. Hes the perfect oracle villain a guy who uses his genius to make money
