Where's the blood?
I'm not a guy who loves the gore but I ask you, when one issue ends with Dick Grayson spilling his life force from his torso all over a rooftop and the next issue opens with a trickle of blood from his shoulder...Where is the editor?
Coagulating continuity aside, this issue was still better than the rest of the Batman R.I.P. stuff that's out there, mainly because it has little do do with it. Nightwing continues to aid Carol, an important witness and old friend of Harvey Dent in this issue. Two-Face makes an appearence though he's inactive, talking on a bluetooth, cocking a gun and looking menacing as ever.
However, the real star of these 32 pages, Alfred Pennyworth. Adding a great touch of emotion, Tomasi uses Alfred as surgeon, which has been done before, but Rags' pencils put a great deal of weight in his expressions that allow the reader to feel for the best butler in the comic book world (Sorry Jarvis).
As Batman R.I.P. unfolds Robin and Nightwing continue to be better reads than Detective and Batman. With Rags at the artistic helm of this book, there's no way you can go wrong. His depictions of the rogues on the final page is gorgeous whether they are real or all in the drugged Grayson's head.
Art: 5 - Excellent
